Costco does not have liquor in-store in Texas: cannot charge membership fee for liquor. Some Tx Costcos have a separate, attached liquor stores, but the one I visited in Austin was taken over (operated) by the Western Beverage chain in April/May 2021. Price tags changed, blue aprons appeared on clerks, and prices increased considerably. Lagavulin 16 went from $63.99 to $99.99 in the space of 6 weeks in Austin (2021).

I heard that about Costco. The same is actually true in California. You can not charge membership for alcohol. That is the reason any non member can walk into Costco and by alcohol. I am not a member of Costco and have bought some bottles there. The do try to make it difficult sometimes eg say cash only no cards etc. But legally they do have to sell to non members.

Your trip reflects my experience also as I’ve not found much of interest at Costco lately c/w prior years. Cognacs seemed to have taken over the glass cases.

I have never seen Lagavulin 16 in my local Costco in Illinois. Bottles around me at liquor stores are priced around $130

CT Costco had big allotments of Lagavulin Offermans at $63 a few weeks ago. Dont know about any 16 year around

Good price. They used to have the same for the 16

@@WhiskyMystery i was told it was the wholesale price. Someone even witnessed a gentleman purchasing 21 (twenty one!) of them. I imagine it will take him a while to make his money back if he is planning on turning them around for a profit.

@@javieracosta3439 Offerman is $99 + Tax here at K@L and I trust their prices eg Hakushu 12 is $120

FYI: Ancnoc Rascan is the latest peated Ancnoc expression. Not as good IMHO as the Alexander Murray knockdu 14 I found previously at Costco, but a decent replacement at a slightly higher abv.

The Lagavulin 16 was stocked & disappeared quite quickly. It was priced at $76. My hunt for a bottle has not been successful.

Those are regular retail prices. In CT Costco has almost nothing except their own. Where was the Kirkland selections??? The only thing I would buy is the Laphroaig 25 for $399. If I wasn't busy buying $100 bottles
@WhiskyMystery2 жыл бұрын
I would pass on four x $100 bottles
@jackthepickledhound2 жыл бұрын
@@WhiskyMystery there are still some good ones between $85-110 out there but there are many more new $150 bottles. And that's the future for anything interesting. Or are you saying that the Laph25 is all we should be keeping on the shelf? (If I can't find a Brora)
