MODERN DESIGN: Ice Maker with a large transparent window so you can always see your ice being made and the level.
COMPACT & EASY: ‎Frigidaire's countertop portable ice maker offers a wide range of uses with a compact dimension 9.5 in. (W) x 14.1 in. (D) 12.9 in. (H) Our countertop ice maker is portable and compact, making it simple to transport and use.

I love this little thing. In order to have a good experience make sure you are nearby the kitchen to move ice to freezer on a regular basis. If doing other light household tasks, this is an easy procedure to remove and transfer. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO LONGER NEED MELTING ICE FROM THE GROCERY STORE (or to pay for it).

Love this! Since icemaker in our vacation home is on the fritz, I use this to generate ice then place the cubes in the 'dead icemaker' hopper and it dispenses beautifully. Beats the price of repairing the icemaker on the fridge/freezer or replacing the whole thing. Bonus; works great for camping if you have power. Kept 10 of us in ice while rv camping with all the grands on a hot weekend.

It’s important to keep the basket free when the machine lets you know the basket is full. so it will produce more ice faster. I make ice at night, when I’m home and then I place the cubes in a freezer bag, right after they’re ready. When the freezer bag is full, I place them in the freezer. And continue making more. It’s nice if you have extra room in your freezer.

I got the Amazon one. It works the same. Except I think the reason the water doesn't run out all the way is because the unit isn't strong enough to keep the cubes completely frozen between cycles, creating a continuous water supply. It's really for on demand ice, so save energy and turn it off right after you get the amount you need or keep it going for as long as you need.

Maybe I’ll bring mine over next time we have a get together to compare. I got mine on amazon 2 years ago and is one of the best purchases I’ve made. I keep mine on all the time and always have ice.

I have this too. It’s taking a long time, but it’s definitely making more ice than what my refrigerator/freezer is making in 24 hours. Water Reservoir is small. Basket is small and ice keeps melting. So I’m babying this thing.

I had read that it is best to remove the made ice and put the cubes in the frig freezer to stop the ice from melting when just sitting inside the basket. Any comment on that?
@foochiwawawroses
@foochiwawawroses 10 ай бұрын
@@steveturton5478 yes, there is not a cooling agent or refrigerant in the ice basket so if the ice sits there for too long, it will melt.

To be fair, the purpose of this unit is to make ice quickly on demand, not to use as a replacement for a freezer based ice maker. The ice is also lower temp which is useful for making mixed drinks and smoothies, but this is also why you can't freeze it, as it will just stick together as you mentioned.

I just bought this... I'm only using reverse osmosis water in it that I keep 2 gallons at a time in the fridge in glass gallon containers....then just put the ice it makes in the freezer..... I think using only filtered water it it and not nasty tap water will keep it cleaner for longer
@One-Day-After-Another
@One-Day-After-Another 5 ай бұрын
I've been using my religiously to make ice all summer and I think the key to keeping it clean is two things. Use only filtered water (I use reverse osmosis water).. when you're done making ice, drain it... wipe with clean paper towel... Put a clip fan directing air inside to dry it for an hour or so... I shine a flashlight in mine and there's not a hint of any funk at all after all this time. I also carefully slide a butter knife under the flat piece in the back that lifts up and down when the fan is on so air can get under that to dry when the fan is on. EDIT: I noticed your ice cubes are super clear.... Most of the time I use chilled RO water when I make ice.... but a few times it hasn't been chilled.... and the bullets with the non-chilled water were super clear like yours. I was kind of shocked...When the water is super cold they are more foggy looking... but nothing like using tap water... those are REALLY cloudy looking ice cubes

Every liter of water which is about a quart, weighs one kilogram, or two pounds, so if one quart makes two pounds, 26 lbs needs needs 13 quarts or 3 gallons and a quart, but I need to know how much electricity is uses. None of the reviews seem to care about the cost of electricity. For example, a water distiller costs about $100 and 900 watts, calculated it costs about a dollar per gallon of water, after about a year or less , the machine starts having problems, so it is more economical to just buy bottled distilled water, the only clean water 💦
