Another good video! Costco seems to have really increased more on the items they make (bakery) and the meals they make are very expensive. The Chicken Pot pie used to be $16.99 (which I thought was expensive in 2020) and then in 2021 they went up to $27, YES!! and now they are back down to about $22. That is still a huge price for pot pie.

Fat Kid Moment - I love me some Ben & Jerry's. I live in MA. A pint used to be $4.79 in my area. Now, they are $6.49. That's a 35% increase in price!!! I might not be a Fat Kid for much longer ☹☹ That's one funny, non-essential item, but in general prices have gone up EXPONENTIALLY on nearly everything. Here's my serious example: I usually buy canned beans (yes, I know dry beans are cheaper, but I'm not willing to take that time out of my day for all dat lol) for my lunch salad protein source. A can of black beans used to be $0.79, on sale for $0.50. Now, they are $1.29 a can(!!), on sale for $0.88. Comparing the regular prices, that's an increase of 63%!!!!! Comparing the "sale" prices, you will see a modest increase of 76%. The jokes are writing themselves at this point.

It is insane, what the prices are! My usual Costco haul went up almost 40%. Our country still doesn't value caretakers, and the emotional strain of that task. Then, to add on top of that the loss of income because now all my energy and effort is taken up by our special needs daughter... It's a lot.

So interesting to see the comparison with the video evidence. I’m sure there’s some cost increase trickling down from production costs increasing (I guess I have never seen that evidence personally). I don’t shop Costco but I had been considering a membership until all the prices rose. But the good thing is since it’s been a couple years I have been able to get my equilibrium back with this and it’s changed my consuming habits. I pay closer attention to sale trends, learn the new sale prices when they go low, and I cut out the unnecessary stuff and chose to be creative with recipes and explore other foods.

I used to like Costco toilet paper. Now it seems all I do is change rolls. I live alone, so I’m using the same amount. I saw someone on line complaining that Costco must have changed manufactures because it was much thinner. I agree. This is another way to raise prices. I’m a senior, so I remember when coffee was sold in a pound can, vegetables in a 16 ounce can, ice cream in a half gallon, etc. This a sneaky way to raise prices that you may not notice. Just reduce the amount of the item and not change the size of the can. 2:03

I bought a few of those jumbo packages of Charmin at Costco after the toilet paper shortage in 2020. Recently bought Charmin from Costco which has smaller and thinner squares. Everything is getting crappier, and there is shrinkage everwhere you look. Don't get me started on chocolate bars, they are a great yardstick for inflation via cost, shrinkage, and cheap ingredients.

I like to get chicken thighs at Costco. If you buy the cheapest ones, they were .99 a pound around 2020. Now they are 1.49 a pound, a 50 percent increase. I refuse to spend close to $5 a pound for chicken. That's beef territory (hamburger and brisket.) I like to bake 3 bags of chicken thighs in the oven with some seasoning, pour the rendered fat into a pot of sauteed vegetables, and add a cup or two of chicken broth, one can cream of chicken, and one can cream of mushroom soup. Then I pull the meat off the bones and toss that in as well. Perhaps add some white wine near the end of the simmer. It is perfect with pasta, similar to pot pie filling.
