When pears are hard put them in a paper bag and roll top close it will help them soften up. But we were told the harder the pear the fresher it is.

Can’t wait to see how you process meat. Wow coscto you couldn’t get some vegetables you wanted. It was nice you and hubby went in a day date. I say anything you can do alone with your spouse is a date especially when you got kids. Whether it be grocery shopping, drs appointment, or furniture buying. ❤️

Unfortunately that is a common experience up here to have veggies be bad, we just move on and try again the next week. I agree with you, anything without kids becomes a date and time to reconnect. Have a wonderful week Mary!

Loooooove moose’s tooth and wild scoops I’ve tried both and loooove them. I’m so excited to see the video of y’all processing the meat can’t wait. And my daughter started school in Wasilla she also did virtual learning last year so this is officially her first time going to a school in Alaska since our move. They didn’t require to wear masks at all but I have her carry one in her backpack if it changes. I bet ur boys r excited to see all their friends 🤗

I love just hearing about all that you guys do. Your raspberry patch. Chickens. Hunting. Costco hauls. Whatever it is. I just enjoy your channel. I follow a few on KZbin and yours is most definitely my favorite. Lol so with our back to school.. mask are recommended BUT not required. I recently started my new job as a paraprofessional with the Learning center classroom. (I help teach the students with disability.. physically or mentally) so only 1 kiddo wears a mask. The rest of us do not. BUT we also take our sanitizing and cleaning and washing hands and social distancing very seriously in our school/classroom. OH BY the way! I got your box in the mail yesterday...and I love everything, so thank you so, so much for taking the time to shop and buy and send those products to me. Also, tell little man I LOVED the colored box he made ..and I will keep it forever! Him coloring my box made it even more special. ♥️

Looking forward to them returning full days as my kids really struggled with the virtual learning!!

It's nice that you have a big taxidermist there. We have a massive issue in the UK where there is a lack of skilled taxidermists. Especially for wild animals or specimens. I work in museums and we struggle to get animals processed fast enough, or can't even take them because we don't have the access to a taxidermist. Some of those moose and bears are crazy big!
@ThisAlaskaLife3 жыл бұрын
That is so interesting! We have some great taxidermy shops here in Alaska but we actually have almost no tanneries here in Alaska. For skins we have to send them down to a place in Idaho and then they send it back for the taxidermy to get done here. This animals were crazy big! Thanks for watching, I’m grateful you’re here.

Our school district where we live in Pennsylvania had in person school all of last year with mask wearing and they opened this year on time , in person with mask wearing with some medical exemptions.The cases are high here in our county but the kids need in person schooling with their friends. The Pizza looked great. I did see your meat processing. That ia alot of work. Be safe.

Hi Shirley. Last year our school didn't go back in person until after spring break. We homeschooled. This year the kids are back with masks and some social distancing. If they are exposed to Covid in class but don't have symptoms they can stay in school. If they go home because they are sick they have to have a neg. test to come back. So far, so good, they are enjoying being back in school. Anyways, probably more than you wanted to know. Hope you are doing well and thank you for watching.

Third vlog in recent weeks that I watched where a meal was at Moose Pizza (well actually five but three different vloggers were dining together) Both groups had to wait like 1 1/2 at dinner time to get in .. and the one group did stop for ice cream afterwards as well :-) Here in NE PA.... some districts are requiring masks while others are leaving it up to the parents -- but a 'hot topic' all around. Congratulations to Hunter :-)

Hello Emmi! I will pass on the congratulations to Hunter. It is funny that so many people are going to Moose's tooth. We really went on a whim because my sister gave me a gift card and we were lucky to be right when it opened, otherwise it is a super long wait. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

How long will the caribou meat last your family? Will you need another kill for the Winter?
@ThisAlaskaLife3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dawn! Really good question, if we just had a caribou it would probably last 2-3 months. We still want to get a moose this year and maybe a few deer. It has been a long time since we got a caribou, moose is our favorite meat along with halibut and salmon but this caribou has tasted really good.

Love comparing your Costco to mine. Your milk isn’t too much more than ours. It’s up to 3.08 here. The reason for tomato limits is there will be shortages this winter as California had to plow under all their tomatoes because of drought. Prices will be up and there may be shortages. Our garden had a great tomato year. We’ve put up over 50# of tomatoes, sauce and pasta sauces. Our schools are wearing masks. Our AG is trying to ban masks in all MO schools, but we’ll see what the courts say. I’m still wearing a mask everywhere. I never stopped. My daughter is a teacher, so we watch this issue closely. Good to see you again.
@ThisAlaskaLife3 жыл бұрын
Hey Suzie! That is so interesting about the tomatoes, I may need to stock up them on the diced tomatoes, I seem to use them the most. Your tomatoes sound amazing. The boys are back at school with masks and it is going well. It took us all a bit to get used to having a schedule again, but now they are really doing well. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Julie! Things are so tricky right now. The boys are back in school with masks and it is going fairly well. We just are all trying to adjust to massively different schedules.
@myrakillough85753 жыл бұрын
My son has been in school full time since July but he goes to a special school and only has at most eight kids in his class. The teachers, bus drivers and staff all wear masks but it’s really hard to keep a mask on a special needs kid that just doesn’t understand. Now my daughter started back to school this past week and she is required to wear a mask except while eating. She doesn’t take PE anymore so I don’t know how they are handling masks there. I imagine it would be hard to run while wearing a mask. Both schools are sending out notifications if any student or staff test positive for COVID and anyone that may have come in contact are quarantined. So far there hasn’t been talk of going back to all virtual school but who knows what the future will bring. Now I’m waiting to hear about booster shots for us all.
@ThisAlaskaLife3 жыл бұрын
My kids are back full time now with masks indoors. They can take them off to eat or when they are outside. Masks during PE sounds awful, doesn't it! Our school district is struggling with bus drivers and cafeteria workers so things are a little weird but for the most part it has been really good for them to go back. Have a wonderful Sunday Myra.
