Thanks. I'm a careful shopper and always try to compare prices. It sounds like Costco isn't worth it here in Australia. There prices are set low/high, so you don't win in the end, unless you can use 2kg of spinach in 2 days.

I agree absolutely with you and it's so amusing to see the human behaviour from this, particularly how many think they are saving money when they aren't. Still, there are some benefits. I think if you are a large family that normally has two trolley loads of shopping a week then the bulk packaging is way easier to handle, both when shopping and putting it away at home. My son just got a membership and is quickly learning about volumes and the benefit of a freezer. One big benefit that I've seen is the availability of new and interesting snack items as well as some ready cooked foods.

I think Costco has great benefits for larger families, especially in times with food restrictions, shortages, etc. Always pays to do your research for the best savings and not be taken in by good marketing

The logistics of doing a shop for several households is pretty grim. Trying to keep the frozen and refrigerated items fresh until you can arrange a handover would be a real challenge and then working out money….. My close girlfriend and I take turns paying for membership and shop together. People could try piggybacking on a friend or family member’s membership and cover lunch and driving there.
