The coronavirus pandemic is forcing stores to make some serious changes, and Costco is no exception. A lot of people are understandably concerned about having enough of the necessities, but don’t think you can head to Costco and buy unlimited toilet paper, because they have put a limit on how much of it you can buy, as well as some other items. Additionally, there are rules about how many members can be in the store at once and how many people they can bring. Let’s take a look at the big change that Costco is making to its membership policy.

BOMBON187 There’s an old guy in the next neighborhood over who has everyone (but me) fooled. He put on this big act as if he is collecting supplies to give to homeless, but he stockpiles them. When the pandemic hit, he briefly advertised having 16 each of electrical power distribution set ups, keyboards, mice, and ventilators. He has been posting on our NextDoor PHOTOS 📸 of the aisles ransacked of 🧻 usually at Costco. When people reply “OMG, I can’t find any TP anywhere! Whatever shall I do?” He makes a big show of giving away a couple of rolls “at cost” and then makes another show of saying “I’ve given away all I have now”. Basically, he is creating a heightened state of hunger for the product he knows he has stockpiled and getting others to think he is a “benevolent provider”. But I smelled that it was an act & he’s a profiteer. A lot like some of my family & a lot like Trump.

@Not Sure Nope ur wrong. It doesn't matter how u early u get up in the morning to buy toilet papers. If u sell them at higher price, even if people are willing to pay them, u can be charged with price gouging, meaning u raised the price by ~10% or higher and u are liable for civil penalties, as well as criminal, depending on the state, for marking up a price on essential items during emergency times.

It seems impossible to me that people don't get it. This starts at home with your toddlers. Wash your hands after you use the toilet. I can't believe the number of grown adults who don't do it because they either don't care or they are too lazy. Nice to hear from someone rational...these are terrible times but it is temporary...some people are overly scared & panicked while others are greedy & saw an opportunity to take advantage of older or less fortunate...if someone considered those people a friend in the past I'd reconsider my definition of a friend... thank goodness there are still others that are caring, concerned for others etc...if i had a family member that preyed on others, especially in a time of great need, id be changing my last name...for those that have lost loved ones my thoughts & prayers are with you

I liked the changes when I was at Costco yesterday. There were still a fair amount of people in Costco, but not as crowded as it could have been. There was a line of about 200 people outside waiting to get in. The checkout lines were still extremely long considering how few people were in the store. They also only had 1 person at the foodcourt making food, which was really odd.

I just assume that everything outside my door is contaminated. I don my mask and gloves, buy my supplies and get them home. Since I have no idea who has coughed and sneezed on my bag of flour or my can of tomato soup, I have a spray bottle of bleachy disinfectant just inside the door. I grab it, spray the heck out of everything and then it comes in the house. Produce goes in the sink with water, soap and bleach and then gets well washed with clear water. It's the best I can do. I called the health unit and described what I do and asked if I should be doing something more. The response was 'I wish we could get others to do half of what you're doing. We'd all be safer.' Take care whoever you are and good luck protecting your family from this awful virus.

And remember to treat the air as contaminated, so you return with hair, exposed skin, clothes and shoes contaminated. People still spit as well as cough/sneeze/breathe so it eventually falls to the ground. But they are now saying that it remains in air for 3 hours. And you are standing in a breezeway while waiting being covered with who knows what. So shoes off at door, groceries in a bin at the door, strip and shower, then deal with groceries. If you put a lid on, even frozen will be ok while you sluice off. I can’t believe how irresponsible she was. Even showing hand washing - touching dispenser with dirty hands.

@io5417
@io5417 4 жыл бұрын
No. The main reason for no returns is because the stores will lose money. All the revenues generated from these sales will have to be negated and the stores will have excessive surplus. That's money just sitting at the warehouse not turning profits. Plus those take up the limited storage that could have been used for other items. Preventing possible contamination is an after thought and good marketing reason.

My husband and I are costco card holders and seniors with compromised immune systems who live in rural Nova Scotia so have not gone in here since this virus all started. We do use their pharmacy though as their dispensing fee is a whole lot cheaper than the average drug store but that is not the only reason. If you have your doctor fax your prescriptions to them they will fill them, charge your credit card and mail them out to you within a day or two and there is no charge for this service. We have done this for a while now and it is great. The only thing they don’t mail out is insulin or narcotics so we get those at our local pharmacy and have a friend pick them up for us and deliver them to our mail box outside. When he leaves we go out and get them. This is a great service. ......and isn’t just for seniors.

I’ve searched and don’t find an app for scan and go for Costco. I’m talking about app on phone . What are you referring to? I’d really like to get if available.

I’m in Ontario Canada will there be a way to order fresh groceries and warehouse goods online and getting a pick up time. Delivery is way too long now for perishables. Thanks for any advice. I’m about ready to cancel my membership because I just can’t handle the stress to try and go to the store with the new rules. People were lined up around the entire building on Thursday in the rain. I’m one of the immune compromised so standing in the rain for an hour to shop now isn’t in my future. Thanks

How about - you make the yearly membership lower for Veterans and Seniors - or in my case both?

Instead of many customers standing in line...they could have a system where each car gets a number and time slot and customers sit in their own cars.

@@Elilmu_Nur Let people in for 20 minutes and clear the store. Next wave gets 20 minutes. Wash, rinse, repeat. We can process hundreds of thousands a day through Disneyland. Apply the same principle. We're better than we think. We're just not prepared.

I have been recommending this for years. I have told kids in food court to stop jumping on table tops. Maybe make one way aisles. Seen member bring in 2 and 3 non members and proceed to check outside. Major delays. Name on card you shop. Monitor this upon entry

COSTCO should also build a drive-through for their pharmacies this is a must just as SHOPPERS DRUG MART has or Walgreens all the other pharmacies have a pass-through or drive through

Good grief, just no! The air pollution is bad enough with all the people sitting in idling vehicles now, it will be worse as the temperatures warm up. DQ had 20 vehicles in the drive thru blocking traffic yesterday because it was warmer.
@BubbyZaida

Christina Cope The drive-through would be in the rear of the store for ONLY those picking up drugs. This was just my suggestion as I use their pharmacy and don’t want to walk through the store. Thanks for your comments anyway. 🇨🇦

@@BubbyZaida ahh, I see your point. I live in Ohio between 3 rivers so the valley holds the air pollution, these people always use a drive thru. I always would park, go in but of course that life seems so long ago now. Good luck, stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.

I’m glad stores are limiting people inside store. My Walmart did the same thing because people are being too close to each other and it keeps us associates in a safer environment. It also helped us stock easily and prevent panic buying.

Aaarrgh! They didn't "change" the food court policy. It had ALWAYS been the policy. They are now actually enforcing it. If you don't have a memebership, then you can no longer get food at the food court

I wonder if Sams Club is doing the same, since Walmart is also limiting how many people are in the store now as well? 🤔 And finally they added plexiglass at the registers as well. 😳
