My wife has worked there for over thirty years, she works in returns. They had a guy who bought a full lamb, he came back a month later with only a small Tupperware container full, he said it tasted funny, they returned the full price of the entire lamb.😂

We bought a $500 portable ac 3 years ago and only used it in total over the three years 3month per year and it started causing brownouts and not working properly was able to return it! With only 9m running over the years it should have held up better. Thankful for their return policy!

one caveat to the 90 days for electronic if defective they give an additional year on top of manufacturer warranty so they will take it back within two years if defective

I returned a broken special edition Maisto 1:18 toy car. At first they said they would not take it back because the item had another name on the bottom of it. And they said it wouldn't match with the Maisto branding they sold. They kept trying with the system and finally got a refund. The lady was nice and i was completly honest with them. Really surprised to find out that (according to you, anyway) people throw away boxes immediately and lose receipts "all the time." I grew up having a receipt drawer in the house where receipts go and are checked over periodically. I've always saved boxes at least through the warranty period. Something I don't understand is leaving an item's empty box in the parking lot. Am I the only one that thinks this practice is just plain irresponsible and rude?

I purchased a cuisinart Immersion blender with a food processor attachment that shreds cheese. 7 months after purchase I was making and cheese… and the shredding burned my blender😢. Took it back and they refunded me they just asked why I was returning again if it was broken or I just didn’t like it

I have a crazy question. I have a habit of buying things then deciding it’s not what I want so I return it. That’s not unusual. But I’ve bought a few things numerous times in my indecisiveness. Watches/electronics. I’ve never returned anything though that’s really been used or damaged. I purchased a pack of 3 honey bottles. I didnt like the honey like I like the bjg bottle I usually buy. Not wanting to waste my money I kept using one bottle before I decided to donate the bottles. Then I remembered costcos generous return policy. Unfortanatly the costo rep said she couldn't take it back because more than half of a bottle was used. Technically 1/3 of the total was used. Anyway despite not seeing that posted anywhere in the return policy my return was not accepted

People will absolutely abuse the policy. It's only a matter of time before they end their generous policy. Remember what happened to LL Bean and their lifetime guarantee? As long as this policy exists where you can return (for example) a mattress after 5 years because it became "uncomfortable" and received a full refund, people will not stop abusing the system and then it's ruined for those with higher morals.

Large retailers can leverage a return rate as a quasi no interest loan, that's why they'll make a deal with the devil YOU! and give you lots of time to "call their debt" and return the collateral (ie the boots cost them $10, you lent them $59.95 aka don't run a pawnshop!😄). Many items are resold as new, a few on clearance others return to manufactures.

great video, thanks. i bought a big tv from costco 1 year ago. they told me to call samsung, as there is now a foot wide black vertical stripe/band, just left of center. samsung sent out a 3rd party service co. to inspect. although you cant feel any mark on the screen, they said something hit the tv, and its probably not covered. it worked fine when i turned it off, showed the screen defect the next morning. i have no kids or pets. NOTHING hit the screen. they sent an email estimate of about $500 +, this is unacceptable. costco also gave me a 3 year extended warranty too. so what do i do now? i spent almost 3 grand on it. im 67, and not rambunctious around electronics, and im the only one in this room, at all times. pls help.

How about not being a jerk. If you buy something and its broken, or torn, and that is the WAY IT WAS when you bought it, that is perfectly reasonable. Return something that you never used, (wrong size, wrong color, etc..) then fine, but customers who use items and then return them for full price when they simply no longer need, or like, the item are being 'jerks' and are raising the cost of the items "I" purchase.

Its not jerk. Costco refund policy is based on “customer satisfaction”. If you don’t like it after 5 years, thats called “no more satisfaction”. Their refund policy is not about you used or not. I would not say that returning the used item should not make person jerk.
