I have a set of Yonex N1-CBs, and they are in my bag. As a collector, I have over 40 sets of forged Japanese irons, and although I play different ones from time to time but when I am in a tournament, I play the Yonex N1-CBs. They are very good.

Good review! I get people buying Kirkland or box set stuff if they’re buying a set knowing that they might play twice a year at a works outing type thing. Easy to buy and no hassle. However, if you’re buying clubs to get into the game, take a bit more time and some advice and buy a set that suits you.

Great video, interested to hear how you got an independent custom fitting for your swing? I am at a similar level to you and find my swing too erratic to be specific about shaft length and weight, plus I find most fitters too biased towards selling you what they have or can make the most money out of to be totally honest about what is best for you.
@GolfGuyReviews5 ай бұрын
Thanks Neill. I've been fit this year at UK Golf Academy near me, which costs £50, but is taken off the value of any clubs you purchase. And I've also been fit with Wilson this year too

I’m off 18 and recently had a driver fit with the lads at “Performance Golf”. I ended up walking out with my own driver, having established that my head/shaft combo was better or as good as anything out there. But while there they got me to try a different 7 iron, having watched me warm up with mine. Tried a much lighter shaft which felt great! Since been fitted for a new set of irons (not with PG) and I’m playing much better. The point of that ramble is, even at hc18, I could tell and feel the difference the lighter (still stiff) shafts made. Find a good, honest fitter. It’s worth it.

Based on your limited sample, I prefer the Kirkland stats. Front to back dispersion was way better with them. Your smash factor was much higher with the KS and overall distance was not insignificant at 13yds with the 5i. To each their own, and I’m definitely a fan of second hand clubs over budget clubs. But for me, in this head to head, the Kirkland’s take the W

Thanks for watching and breaking down John. I’m trying to balance not being an expert regarding the numbers, while trying to share how the clubs feel in the hands of an average golfer. The limited sample size is difficult, as I’ve used both on the course, and I’m happy to say I feel I have a more consistent strike with the yonex, especially from 7-pw 👍

@@GolfGuyReviews that’s definitely the casting vote; ‘how do they feel to use’? If the Yonex feel better and give you more confidence, then have at it. We’re not on the Tour, so optimising equipment for performance whilst ignoring the more subjective elements of performance is not a must for us. But in the main, I love the message. Second hand clubs are so much better than budget friendly equipment. There’s a world of second hand equipment and stupid prices, I love GC4C. I spend way too much time and money on there 🤣

Try putting the fit shafts in the Kirkland heads.

That could be a really interesting video. I just looked, I can get the same shafts used in regular length for £120. So would cost another £100ish to get them lengthened and more tape under the grips, plus what ever to change the lie angle too… So would it be worth the £250ish?? My guess is no

Every one keeps saying that they are a rip off of the TM 790, do yourself a favour and take a look at the cross section of the two cut in half, they are actually nothing alike, internally vastly different.

Thanks Pezza. Just looked at the cross sections on Reddit…they look pretty similar to me as a lay person, but probably vastly different to someone more knowledgeable 👍 www.reddit.com/r/golf/comments/1ahhx3h/kirkland_iron_vs_p790_cross_section/

I can tell you this before watching the video. I’m ex D-1 golfer and a bit more after. I’m 49 now and have been telling my friends all these fittings, different shaft torque on and on is all a money grab and doesn’t help 99% of the golfers. Bob does sports perfect example. Since they’ve been fitted playing Calloway they have not improved if anything worse. FP has stayed the same. Only thing that does help are game improvement irons. Cutsy got some help with wedges but they weren’t fitted just switched to cavity back. As a bet I bought all Kirkland clubs balls and glove and started playing. My scores have completely stayed consistent with my $3500 set of fitted clubs to me. All I’ve lost is maybe 6 yards off my drive which was expected but Kirkland irons are all about half a club longer. Great clubs

@@GolfGuyReviews That’s what I did. Use mizuno mp-69 irons and play less that 15 rounds a year and shoot 83-92. Before I was shooting 95-100 using game improvement irons. My ball striking has gotten so much better. Aim small miss small. I’ll be breaking 80 next year. Getting a membership next year.

I agree to an extent. If you’ve got decent hand/eye coordination then game improvement irons will hold you back. I’ve been playing for 3 years now and recently got fitted for a set of TM P770s (not quite the MBs) and much prefer them. My Ping G425s look and feel like shovels by comparison!
