Sometimes when I make stuffed peppers I use day old rice and make a rague with ground beef and stuff them with parmesan. Bake , add provolone or your cheese and bake until melted. I season everything !

Speaking of Costco, by me they have tomohawk steaks for $10 a pound. I've been buying one a every week for almost a month. Just had one tonight. Ate it all. 3.3lbs lol. It's fantastic.

Beloved that’s how it originally was made with the pepper and sauce as the star attraction. No extra the salt and pepper were add by the eater at the table if one wanted. Now when other cultures began cooking this dish we went all in on seasoning and flavor profile😂

Got a snack idea for anyone interested: (Senchi's voice, delicious in dungeon) jalapeno poppers: Cut in halves, de-seed, fill with your desired filling (mine is cream cheese) wrap in bacon, skewer them and put them on the grill, or in the oven. ( you dont need to skewer 🍢 them, its more or less for presentation and easy handling.)

Hiya! As a former costco deli employee, let me give you a little insider scoop. The meat is indeed, unseasoned. It's cooked as just plain ground beef about a day in advance, crumbled, chilled, and then mixed up for filling. The rice and tomato base comes prepacked, so there's no influence on the spice level there. It's basically a tomato ketchup puree - no discernable spices or even small chucks of tomato. No onion or garlic either, just a heaping garnish of parsley on top of the parmesan cheese (probably because the green color looks nice, it doesn't impact the taste enough otherwise). The peppers themselves get nothing. They're chopped in half, have the seeds removed and are put in the tray completely naked. No extra salt, or pepper, or oil, nothing. To be honest, I've never tried the finished, cooked product myself. From the whole assembly process I could just tell they were fairly bland, albeit pretty.

The trick is you need to pick up a jar of pasta sauce (I prefer vodka sauce) and pour that over towards the end of the cook time! Takes it to a whole other level!

They are not that bad. What I do is bake them in a bath of tomato juice. This softens up the bell pepper and adds flavor.

Having purchased this product, I agree with your assessment. Also, I acknowledge that with the expectation of broad consumption, they’ve likely deferred to those consumers with “flavor sensitivities” and/or dietary restrictions. The rest of us can just season to our liking at home, which I did. Sadly, I do think our respective flavor palettes are another side effect of the trans-atlantic slave trade. Happy Juneteenth!! 🎉

Love Costco, but they're prepared foods be bland as hell, even the Roasted Chicken is bland yeah I said it. So it's no surprise that the stuffed peppers are bland if you said otherwise I was prepared to pull your black card.
