COSTCO! SUNFORCE Triple Head Solar Light - Review 2 - Solar / Battery Life

Ok just got the SUNFORCE Triple Head Solar Motion Activated Light at Costco. They have different versions on Amazon: amzn.to/2EMFY8N The Solar panel generates about 6.3+ volts to 7.5 volts to charge the 3 AA Nimh in the case. I charged the 3 AA batteries with solar (left it in the sun for 3 days and with a smart AA battery charger. The light battery life lasts for about 32 minutes before it goes dim. So if you plan to leave it on for a longer time than 30 minutes you should consider something else.

Thanks for the review. I purchased this solar light recently from Costco UK to illuminate a dim basement tool storage area for a few minutes a day. Unfortunately the ambient light sensor has no sensitivity control, so in order to overcome the problem of the area not being dim enough I took apart the sensor part (two self tapping screws), located the light sensitive diode and covered it in blu-tak - problem solved! This replaces a similar solar light that was 6 years old with a claimed 350 lumens of output - from the Solar Centre. This thing claims to deliver 1,500 lumens. Boy is it bright in comparison. As the circuitry has to be continuously powered for the passive infrared detector, I would imagine 15 minutes a day on a full charge best case. I might replace the AAs with higher capacity if needed. I wondered if the solar panel could be upgraded to a higher capacity (similar output voltage).

I have been charging my batts on the off position , for 5 day in brights sun and my lamp is still very dim at the highest setting . Lamp is basically brand new . Any idea what it could be ?

None None 30 mins isnt good enough for me at all. I though it will last atleast 10 hours before the batteries ran out of charger

People people - this is a battery powered- solar charge light. You can't expect it to stay lite for hours - get real! It's designed to come on/off for short periods of time.

Why.. just use the solar it 'll keep your cells from going bad. I put mind under the house eaves so the batteries or out of the sun and don't over heat

If you *UNPLUG* the solar panel from the main unit you can use any AA cell. You can also use wall converter that meets the output/input perimeters as well. The instruction manual should state.

Set to "Auto" of you want the light to trigger when there is movement. The "On" setting overrides the movement detector.

Let's see..... common sense would indicate OFF means off, ON means constantly illuminated, and AUTO means it reacts to motion.
