Do not read the directions, boil the water pour the soup base right over the noodles dry, and then pour the hot water over it all. 2 min at most. I got the milky look and emulsified flavor you talked about! Also add more water for less salty and add a little sesame oil...😊

The art on the packaging is so misleading. I thought I was getting maybe some premium ingredients in its dried up form, but nope. Very basic noodles.

The Hikari Menraku Tonkotsu ramen is $3.99 in my area for one single one but was extremely delicious. I just had it tonight. I added 2/3 drops of sesame oil, fried egg and 3 bitesize leftover potatoes I made on the stove. Was delicious. Next time I will add more potatoes.

I think the most important thing about ramen is the texture of the noodles. This is the mid tier noodles, it’s the same deep fried Korean nongshim everyone knows about. The only difference is the flavor packet. You’ll never get the right springy chewy texture from any dried instant ramen. You have to buy the fresh/hybrid ones from sun noodles. Where the noodles are fresh but the soup is in a packet. It’s like $2.5 a per serving in Asian markets and it’s the closest thing you’ll get to restaurant quality ramen quickly at home on like 10 minutes.
@BeatTheBushFoodnTravel2 жыл бұрын
Good call on sun noodles. They’re great. However I don’t think highly of the soup base that comes with those.
@Andre-qc9nb Жыл бұрын
You mean that microwavable ramen isn't "quite there" with restaurant quality ramen? NO WAY!?!?!?
@BeatTheBushFoodnTravel Жыл бұрын
Reasonable comment until you try instant ramen in Japan.
@sycohlc8 күн бұрын
In a pot, add 2 C water, some chopped onion, a few snow peas, and maybe a couple frozen raw shrimp or some shredded rotisserie chicken. Once it starts to boil, add the noodles. At 3 minutes, add in a raw egg and stir it up. Or you can add a hard boiled or fried egg after. Add the packets at the end and enjoy.
@sycohlc8 күн бұрын
You can also precook a few potstickers and add to the finished soup.

@joegame457610 ай бұрын
the spicy sauce version this guy is trying is pretty good. but DO NOT get the "kuromayu" version. it's the worst tasting ramen i've ever had. it tastes like one of those cleaning products like bleach or maybe soap. and i say this as an asian who loves ramen.
@_w_w_10 ай бұрын
The only thing premium about this is the packaging. Korean brand has no place in making good Tonkotsu Ramen. The spicy oil pack ruins the flavor but if you don't add any, the soup base alone is very weak. Go to Japan and no one puts this much spice in their ramen because it masks the other flavors. Go get one of the well known Japanese brands for less money and you will get a better bowl of ramen.

It's white because it's a clean bone broth that boils for a long time, not really the fat I don't think.
@BeatTheBushFoodnTravel Жыл бұрын
I think it is. They call this emulsifying. The fat gets mixed into the soup and does not separate, creating a lighter whiteish color.

I don't think they sell the frozen ones at Costco. Have to get it at a Japanese supermarket.
@emikami12 жыл бұрын
As others mentioned, this is a complete rip-off even when it is on a discounted price that they sometimes give at Costco. There's nothing premium about this product except the price. I skip the hot sauce because that just makes it worse. The soup packet is way too strong so it is better to fill the bowl up at around 500mL instead of whatever they state in the instructions. It'll still taste like any cheap ramen will taste and this isn't that cheap. I'm surprised Costco even stocked this stuff.
