I love Costco, though in the UK they don't seem to stock as much choice. I wish they'd use less plastic though. I kept thinking about it while watching.

This was fun watching your Costco haul! We've got the one and only Costco in a 2 hour radius. You get quite a bit more organic items than we carry in ours (SE Washington State) - not that I'm complaining because I don't know what we'd do here without Costco! You mentioned a couple food items you make - the ratatouille using the dried mushrooms and the IP greens again using the dr. mushrooms - I would love if you could share a 'recipe' or demo as I've never made either of those and have never had ratatouille. Thanks Tami ~ your videos are always so informative and a lot of fun! I love how you give example of how you use the different haul items. Debbie in WA Ü

I am glad you enjoyed the video. We do plan on making a video showing how to make the ratatouille. I did a facebook live this past week on my Nutmeg Notebook facebook page where I was making the ratatouille - you can find the video there. It does use fresh mushrooms though not the dried ones. Here is the link to the video where I use the dried mushrooms in the Instant Pot with greens. kzbin.info/www/bejne/emjWh3moYrF8fbM

Just an FYI. You can roast whole butternut squash in the oven. Look up Jamie Oliver. I saw him do it. Game changer. The skin caramelizes and the inside gets so sweet. I know you like squash like I do. I encourage you to try it out.

Thank you! I was just at our Costco Saturday (new membership - not the best convenient location) and I didn't really know what to look for. Now I do! However, I don't recall a frozen section. I'll need to specifically look for it next time.

It is overwhelming the first time you visit a Costco store. They have a huge frozen food section so be sure to check it out as well. I am so glad you found the video helpful .

Super interesting. I buy a lot of what you buy but never canned beans. Way too easy and fast in IP. And yeah, the plastic kills me. It's a huge problem. But boy, great reminder of items and totally jealous of your storage!!

Hello Marge Thank you for watching, We are trying to IP more beans, use them in something every day. Happy Cooking
@marge2014 жыл бұрын
@@NutmegNotebook A lot of people say don't bother with the overnight soak but I like it, even a few hours to let the beans expand and then dump the soak water because it results in wonderful broth from the fresh cooking water. So it's not that fast truthfully but I love the result and of course we don't have to watch over them in IP, which is huge plus no salt or any crap that might be in canned bean liquid.

Just want to say that I enjoy ALL of your videos. We have membership at Sam's Club, but it looks like Costco offers a lot more organic products.

We have a Sam's club membership as well and our Costco carries a wider variety of organic produce. However I know that not all Costco's carry the volume of organic produce that mine does. There are other Costco's in nearby towns that don't carry the same products as the one I shop at. I am glad you enjoy my videos - thank you so much!

Thank you so much for this video. I am thrilled I found you.I am WFPB for 6 years and just went SOS free. What mustard do you use? I am not big fan of westbrae stone ground. Also, have you heard of bensons table tasty that chef AJ likes? Is it as good as costco salt free?. And do you know where I can get it?

I like the Westbrae no salt added. Benson's Table Tasty is delicious - its different than the Kirkland no salt seasoning. You can buy it directly from Benson's just google their website.

This video is posted on November 25, still under the CDC Romaine recall. Was CostCo selling it?
@NutmegNotebook6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your concern, The video was recorded before the recall. We are looking forward to resolution of the problem and the recall being lifted. Romaine is a key component in our daily salads. These videos stay up a long time so we did not want the current situation to hold up the information being shared over time.

oh how i wish we had this in the UK, we have so little and its so expensive, tiny packs of organic anything is pounds and pounds in money.I try so hard to be wfpb, but on my tiny budget organics are impossible, i have however been vegan for 4 years and vegetarian for many many years before that, i really need to loose 70lbs as it is impacting on my life a great deal, love your videos.also i would love huge rooms like you have, you could fit the whole of my tiny rented house virtually in your kitchen, the US must be amazing everything is so big

beth VYE - Hi Beth, I live in the Midwest of the States. Like you, I have a tiny home, and a tiny budget. There may be abundance around me, yet it is beyond my budget. I've been Vegan WFPB for 4 years. Living simply, minimizes food choices yet fuels creativity with what I do have. With thoughts of gratitude, a sense of abundance comes to the surface and this fuels creativity. I must laugh in the kitchen. Sometimes I feel like I'm on the FoodNetwork cooking challenge where chefs are given a limited choice of ingredients and are told to come up with something gourmet to "wow" the judges. Fortunately or unfortunately , I am the only judge in my home. If it isn't spectacular, that's ok. In the very least it will be heathy and compliant. If it's spectacular, I could only hope that I remember how to make it again. 😁

@@kristamcnamee1456 My daughter has moved out with her fiance but i have my husband and son to cook for, i also cook all my moms dinners who lives 5 mins up the road from me, so again i have to try to 'make' something out of very little, my husband works so hard but we have very little money, and i have been a stay at home mom, i educated both my children at home, so i dont bring in a wage.But the way i see it, if we can produce lovely food from very little than should we ever have the chance to have a little more it would be easier.

@@jillswainson156 i hate plastic, and here in the UK we are charged more for things unwrapped for example, carrots are 49p per lb in plastic but 59p per lb loose, so if i take my net bags for my produce i have to pay more for the honour.Really... if our leaders in this world are serious about saving the planet they need to realise most of the people are on small budgets, whats more we cannot afford to pay more then we need to, we have to choose between feeding our familys or saving the planet, its not fair, i want to do both, as a strict vegan i feel im doing the least harm with the highest compassion i can, but plastic is something i struggle with, it makes me sad

All I see is PLASTIC! You heard about that world wide problem already! Veganism also means love environment concerned and support local organic farmers! Zero waste!
@NutmegNotebook6 жыл бұрын
I can't afford to buy all my organic produce at the local Farmer's Market as it is just too expensive. I agree with you that it is a lot of plastic. At least it goes into the recycle bin. Just by eating a vegan diet we are helping the environment. This is a journey and we do the best we can given where we are on the journey. I welcome constructive criticism but your shouting comment and only leaving a negative comment really isn't helpful. Veganism is also about compassion - I didn't feel any of that coming from your comment.
