Are property taxes applied to a tiny home that is less than 400 sq ft? Isn't it considered personal property if it sits on rented land space?
@josephschultz40973 жыл бұрын
Biggest problem is every thing is tied to Square footage of home, I don't need 1400 SQ-FT home anymore it's a waste of resources and money to me now, 300-600 SQ-FT is all I need now. The savings alone in heating & cooling will help pay for entire home very quickly, not to mention upkeep of house. Wish they County-States would get rid of SQ-Ft Demands. And yes I know people will say it will lower home values in area.
@stephenpowstinger7333 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. House size required is unrealistic. And people who are resisting modernizing SQFT requirements are your typical NIMBY a-***les.

Great video! I am just wishing that everyone could get an affordable home in this country. With the crazy real estate market, even tiny homes and manufactured homes have really increased in price, too, due to material costs. It's sad because a lot of people had manufactured homes on their plan B, because foundation homes are so ridiculous. Alternative housing is a great idea. It would be nice of cities and municipalities would drop the square footage requirements. It seems like the local governments are in the hip pocket of the big name builders constructing very large homes. They don't want tiny homes in certain areas, yet they don't even know what they even look like inside.
@josephschultz40973 жыл бұрын
Yah they don't care about people and what the average person can really afford, too many people running from Commiefornia or New York, because of taxes and policies they voted in! and are driving up home prices everywhere, Just hope they wake up and don't repeat the same thing in other States, Stay safe people

The prices for the tiny homes also has to consider whether you got donated resources and items And if you hired somebody or if you did it yourself to work on the tiny house
@stephenpowstinger7333 жыл бұрын
One crucial difference between the two you forgot to mention: in a word - style. Tiny homes are usually beautifully designed and with many space-saving features to enable RV-like storage solutions.

@Kristina Smallhorn Could you do a video about how to pick out a quality manufactured home? When I google this I see articles about the best manufactured homes because of aesthetic choices and bells and whistles. I'm more concerend about the quality in terms of how they will hold up over time. I've heard horror stories about people buying a manufactured home and everything is just breaking after a few years.

My niece/her BF were just in a tiny house rental (on wheels) this past weekend in Catskills, NY & it was adorable & very beautiful on the inside & every space was utilized very nicely. I wish there was a way to upload the pictures in my comments because it really was so nice. As a young couple that have NOT started their own family yet, they were thinking of buying a tiny house to start when they get married, which is affordable to them. For them, it’s perfect because they have not accumulated anything that most married couples/with families (living in a stick-built house for years) have accumulated & I think it’s definitely something that an empty nester, like myself, may consider but again not sure if it’s practical for a young couple to raise a family in, but like I said, as a newlywed or an empty nester, I think it’s perfect 👍🏻 My comments are just my opinion 🤗

Given a bit of outdoor space and an efficient interior layout, the average solo American could live quite comfortably in a 250-350 sq ft dwelling. Keep in mind that as one adds inhabitants the home needs to increase in floor space. Thus 2 adults would likely require 500-700 sq ft to maintain privacy and harmony (and so on with larger families). Thinking in these terms seems like a big leap until you draw out a smaller scaled living space on a graph paper.

Great video. As a homeowner in Oregon, I have been thinking of adding an ADU to my property and the manufactured home seems like the easiest path here in Oregon because tiny homes are only considered RVs. Do you know of any states where manufactured homes are not allowed as ADUs? The stick built ones seem very expensive as do the designy prefab type modules popping up all over California.??

From most financial or mobility aspects, a custom built tiny home is a inferior investment compared to an RV. A bit of research will uncover RV's in the used market which meet the living requirements offered by a custom tiny home. Although depreciation is brutal on new RV's, they retain predictable thresh-hold resale values (check NADA). On the other hand 2nd or 3rd RV owners can use early RV depreciation to their advantage. Living year around in an RV in cold climates could be a challenge, but doable. Many RV builders offer so-called arctic packages that allow for cold weather 'camping', however I'd take that statement with a grain of salt. Homework regarding 'arctic' specifics would pay off.

I have been trying to purchase a tiny home with my boyfriend and buy a piece of land and have it as a standalone unit. We live in California and they allowed tiny homes but only as an ADU. It’s been pretty difficult talking to different counties trying to figure out the zoning and find out if they allow it. Do you know of any counties around the US that allow tiny homes and standalone units? I have found some counties in Florida. At this point if I don’t find any counties we may just have to go with a small manufactured home. Thank you!🤍❤️

Do you use some type of hair color to achieve the blended look with your gray hair?
@KristinaSmallhorn3 жыл бұрын
The top is my hair the bottom is bleached and every 12 washes I add a semi permanent color. Sometimes it’s like a blue, other times it’s a grey and I also do a lilac color. It’s really fun because it doesn’t really last that long.

I enjoy your site and all the information you put out. However, I am not sure if it is different where you are located but the information provided in this video is not accurate for our area in the state of Florida. Park models are not tiny homes here. We have our own building code that stipulates the way the tiny home is built that complies with local standard building codes. Also, manufactured homes such as single wides are indeed built to hud but not considered a tiny home according to code. In addition, park models are built to the Ansli 119.5 code and not to the tiny home building code.
