Nothing is made by hand but it says hand made ( Fata a Mano). The majority of Italian pipe “ artisans” use ready made horrible plastic stems. The greatest craftsmanship of a great pipe is the mouthpiece something that Italians don’t actually do.

I suggest you to take a look at pipes like Caminetto's or Castello's, which mouthpieces are always handmade and "tailor-made" for the pipes
