Costs Segregation Techniques - Least-Squares Method and Scattergraph Method

BSAIS-II I've learned about the remaining costs segregation techniques which are the Least - Squares Method which is this method considered as the most accurate because this method derives the fixed and variable costs by means of statistical analysis and the Scattergraph Method are plotted on a graph based on the sound judgment which a regression line is fitted to the plotted points to represent the line function.

Ordanzs, Sharon D. BSA II-A (Strategic Cost Management) I've learned the other cost segregation techniques which is the Least-Square Method and Scattergraph Method. In Least-Square Method it investigate the association between X and Y. It is the most accurate method in segragating total costs into fixed and variable components. Also, I've learned the advantages and disadvantages of this method. The Advantage of this method is all available data on a problem are used to computation and this will result to precise cost estimation whereas the disadvantage are, it is because we are using all data to computation we are not ignoring the outlier and this method is more complex and procedural. The third method is the Scattergrap method. Under this method all points will be graph on Cartesian plane and it is the least used method because this is based on sound judgement.

The method of least squares is a standard approach in regression analysis to approximate the solution of overdetermined systems by minimizing the sum of the squares of the residuals made in the results of every single equation. This method derives the fixed and variable xost by means of statistical analysis. While, The scattergraph method is a visual representation of the cost and activity data associated with an expense. The resulting chart is used to identify and separate the fixed and variable components of a cost.
