In this video set to relaxing music, we walk southern Cotswold region from the town of Northleach to Cirencester, the largest city in the Cotswolds. This route is one of the most interesting in the Cotswolds not only for its scenic beauty but also because it passes by the Chedsworth Roman villa, arguably the finest Roman villa in all of England.
Starting in Northleach, the walk passes some interesting places to visit, including a wool church and an old prison that has been converted into an art gallery.
This route gets few travellers and even fewer walkers. We pass through the villages of Hampnett, Yanworth, Chedworth and Rendcomb before ending near Cirencester.
Cirencester was founded by the Romans, who called in Corinium. After London, Cirencester was the second largest city in England during Roman times. It sits on a large agricultural plain next to a tributary of the Thames River. It is the farthest point inland that is navigable on the Thames.
There is much to see and experience in this video and all of it is set to relaxing music. Enjoy!
