Crazy to see how Michael has evolved musically ever since the dawn of Page France. He’s like the definition of forever young music. Started out young and still is (:

So, I learned guitar by ear before the Internet killed humanity. To get there, listen to the base notes - then play the low E string to match the base note. Most of these singer song-writers write very simple 3 or 4 chord songs (that's not a criticism, it actually is a sign of good songcraft when done interestingly). Just move up the neck on teh E string until you hit the note that sounds like the base in the song. Then, play the major chord starting with the base note. So, if you determine the base note is a G, then play the major G chord for that part of the song. Then if it doesn't sound right, just fiddle around with the major chord by taking fingers off or playing it as a barre chord or somewhere else on the neck - that gives it a different phrasing. You will get 80% of it within a few minutes. If you are an accomplished player, then sorry for suggesting such a rudimentary approach. Good luck.

@@johnbmadwis I'm sorry for commenting on 2 yo post, but yeah, you're right to a certain extent. In this song, hoverer, it's clear he's playing it in a whole-step down tuning, like in "Yesterday" by The Beatles. This info alone can throw many people off. And the chords are really simple: F, C, G and Am. Or, corrected for pitch, that would be Eb, Bb, F and Gm. But those are not the best choices for strumming, hence odd tuning. It sounds perfect that way!
