The Battle That took place 100 years before Jan arrived, Youngsta is talking about is called Battle of Salt River which took place in 1510 between the ǃUriǁʼaekua (Goringhaiqua) & the Portuguese. Some historians have cited attempted kidnapping of ǃUriǁʼaekua children that sparked the battle. It ended in defeat of the Portuguese. D'Almeida was among those killed on that day. And the result of this battle was no Europeans sailed near Cape Town for the next 142 years. The community used trained to shield battle cattle 🐄 to defeat Europeans. The battle took place around February of 1510.

I love this guy, he took the opportunity to address what every south African needed to hear. He could've used the platform to talk about himself "selfishly" but he chose to empower and enlighten his people with education and information. Salute to you brother , these are the steps we need to take in this journey of discovery and rediscovery and healing. 🕯️

That description of Coloured being the San and the Khoi or black people not claiming the hunter-gatherer is simply ahistorical. Black people (Xhosa, Tswana, Sotho, etc) are LITERALLY the descendants of the San, Khoe. (except perhaps some in the North-Eastern border regions e.g Limpopo) There is a reason why Xhosa words and grammar come from Khoe, why they have high cheekbones, epicanthal eyes, clicks in the language, often less equatorial look than West Africans, etc, SA version of Nguni is an amalgam/hybrid of hunter-gatherer and classic Nguni. Many Coloureds (the non-Asian) share the same ancestry. Many non-Asian Coloured people who were classified as such with the Population Registration Act (1950) were Afrikaans-speaking black people who had even been Xhosa. (Some of the same people who had been in the Ndabeni & District 6 he was talking about) The Xhosa were an *umbrella* culture consisting of *many clans,* including Khoe clans right up to the Cape peninsula in the 16th and 17th century. A good resource for this is "The House of Phalo: A History of the Xhosa People in the Days of Their Independence " (1982) The Griqua on the other hand were indeed a mixed race group between Europeans and natives.

#RestInPeaceRikyRick😔 Lemme just take a moment to remind both myself and others, that nobody knows what the next person is going through. What people portray on social media is manufactured by the individual. Not everything is as seems. If there's one thing we can learn from Riky's ending, it is that we've got to be more open with each other. We've got to. Lest we find, God forbid, someone in our close circles pushed to the edge the way Riky was. Hold on brothers, Be strong sisters. _"Inna Lilahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un"_ [2: 156]❤️ _"Verily unto God we belong and verily, unto Him is our return"_ [2: 156]❤️ Salaam to you and your families❤️🤝 _"Cape Malay" / "Cape Coloured"_ from Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦 #TheCapeOfStorms 🌊 #TheCapeColony ⛓️
