This is so sad. It appears that at least 2 of the brown/'wild' coloured quail in the top cage are male (rusty coloured breasts), there is 1 brown/'wild' coloured female (speckled chest), the white coloured quail could be male or female. The lower cage has a speckled female and a white quail of unknown gender. From what quail breeders advise, there should be only 1 male to about 5 females to avoid fighting amongst the males and the abuse of a solo female. If housing multiple males together you should probably keep females out of their sight. Myshire farm has many KZbin videos on quail behaviour as well as a Sunday call in to ask questions. Coturinex Corner also has many KZbin videos regarding quail behaviour. Both channels can also teach you how to learn the gender or sex of your quail birds.

These birds were all removed from our breeder cages. The cage in the video are my "infirmary", where any birds that have issues get sent to get better. Trust me when I tell you after years of being in this business, I'm not crowding or misgendering cage sets. All our breeder cages are 1 roo to 5 hens. We determined the possible cause was they were just starting to lay using artificial light and these birds were first time layers. They didn't know to be gentile lovers like us older folk.

I have the same problem but main the male quail attack the females. I lost one but i saved 3 of them then i put the male in a different cage.

I find that the hens attack the belly of the males, whereas the roos attack the heads of the hens. They can be pretty mean & nasty at times, specially near full moons. I have a cage I use for my infirmary and pull the victim at the first sign of blood

Ya... you got to catch the disgruntled ones quick. We have an "infirmary" cage set and we have a special large pen for introducing new room mates together before putting them into their apartment. We also use Peck No More on first signs of bullying or if anyone get a small cut. We clean cuts with Vetrcyn and apply a liberal coat of PNM on the back of the neck. It has helped over the years

Literally almost started tearing upppp 😭😭😭 I would do the same thing! And kinda did. “Black Dot Eye” is my…. Special quail lolol just one day late to “hatch” compared to the rest of the flock….I fully hatched her 😅 lolol she’s always had mobility issues but idk if it was because she was stuck in the egg position for so long after she was ready.. or if _that’s_ the reason for her hatching trouble. But either way, I love her!! Lolol and now she’s layin and matin and livin her best slow life 😍 don’t treat her any different than the rest! (Besides being extra, extra careful when I handle her and give her just a liiiittle extra lovin and attention 🤣)
