Thinking of buying, if you have the core box can you connect the box to the motherboard for bios fan control? Is it a 4 pin connector? So not the rgb header, I'm using the remote/box for that but connecting purely for fan speed control.

3 questions Cougar: the COUGAR Core Box has a 5V rgb connector to connect to an adressable 5V rgb header (to light up the RGB from the RGB fans)? COUGAR Core Box connects to a 4 pin PWM header, in this case, CPU Fan_Header, right? Which kind of rgb strips does work with COUGAR Core Box? Does the Corsair or Asus ones works? I'm really into Cougar products but i need answers first.

I bought these and was wondering if there is a better way of controlling them as on the lower speeds for the rainbow effect as an example, the lights look very choppy. Is there any recommended way of keeping the lights looking smooth without having to bump up the speed of the effects so much?

Try using a compatible motherboard to sync with addressable RGB functions such as Asus Aura Sync or Gigabyte Fusion or MSI Mystic lighting...

For single pack version of Vortex RGB SPB 120 & HPB 120, you can use the included 5V addressable header adpater for connection with motherboard directly, You will also need to check the limit of LED quantitity which the motherboard's header can support. If you plan to connect 6~8 fans to the motherboard, we would suggest you to use our core box which provide extra power to all connected fans. So core box can make sure all fans work normally and our of the limitation of LED quantity of the motherboard. I'm on the 3rd box of these fans and the remote still does not work? Where should I be pointing the remote as I don't see an IR receiver anywhere on the v2 control box? (using with old motorboard so need the ir remote to work)

No they didn't, I went to the shops however to get a new battery and went through the remote pairing instructions again for the 100th time. Seems the batteries they send and long dead by the time a customer receives it

So with a new battery I got this one to work, however the set previous to this had died completely. No LED's working at all

David ds 3 pin still plugs into 4 pin. Not everyone can afford modern stuff or are still happy rocking older motherboards

Go to their cougargaming.com website and they already have other Vortex fans without RGB. The older/non RGB fans statistically are better with SP and AF.
