Great car Don! Thanks for sharing! I love my '70 XR7 that came from a good family in Salt Lake, where it spent most of it's life. It was a great "Chasing Classic Cars" adventure and appreciated WCCC being there to help me sort things out little by little, it's been fun! Cheers and thanks!

Very nice. Looks like my low-mileage 1970 Deep Gold Metallic Houndstooth Cougar. Love it. I de remember seeing this one online. Glad you picked it up, Don.

What do you think of my idea of converting it to a houndstooth car? Would it increase the value?

Wow, this really got me going. I have an original '67 in Wimbledon white and black interior that's been in the garage for a year. At 70 I better take it out for a spin before it starts getting stiff like me.

Nice car I had a ‘70 numbers matching Boss 302 Eliminator that I bought in pieces for$1400 in the ‘80s most parts were there except the main bearing caps! Bought all the parts out of Hemming 2 sets of caps for $25 a set. I remember paying $125 for stock exhaust manifolds $350 for NOS smog system and $450 for the Cougar only rear wing. The only interior difference from your car was a blackout panel instead of the 4 mid upper dash switches. Had a Mustang/Cougar wrecking yard near me that helped a lot with little parts. Got it running and driving but didn’t do the paint or interior then sold it to a guy in England in late ‘90s still have the DOZF front shocks though.

I had a '72 with a 351C, same color as this (not metallic), but a black top. Most seem to think that year looks goofy, but I thought she was a beaut.

My first car was a 70 Cougar XR7 same color paint but dark brown interior and vinyl top. 351c 2V Auto. My parents paid $400 for it for me in 1982.

Been trying to buy my cousins 70 XR-7 Cleveland 4-speed (blue) for a few years now and it just sits… heard that only 6% of Cougars were 4-speed…maybe standard shift. Does anyone know out there ?
@clevlandblock16 күн бұрын
Looks like you've got the timing advance about maxed out by the position of the distributor. I used to own a new 70 XR7 351C 4v. With that much advance I'd use Sunoco 260.

I assume if you are going to go from drums to disks on the front, you will add the vacuum booster, disk brake master cylinder, and disk brake proportioning valve?

Jay Leno uses a company in southern California that makes dashboards. Dashes,, somethjng
@donrush569015 күн бұрын
Just Dashes is $2000, one year wait and they cannot replicate the perforated speaker holes on the simulated stitched edge. They show up once in awhile for under $1000 in good used shape, I am just being picky and want brown.

HOW MUCH ?
@WestCoastClassicCougar10 күн бұрын
At 1:20 Don says what he paid for the car and states the sale price will be what he paid + the invoice total for the parts he has installed on the car between when he purchased it and when it is purchased. That total increases almost every day, I think the invoice is somewhere over $5K and growing.

Why would needing to put it in reverse to remove the key be considered anti-theft? Seems if the key is already in she’s getting stolen as a penalty for the driver not knowing you have to put it in reverse to remove the key. 😂

In doing so it causes the car to no be put in neutral and the steering wheel locks.

@@robh3267 In my mind I get to own lots of cool cars and never lose any money plus I get to sell a lot of parts. Buyer gets the benefit of no shipping lots of individual parts and car is pretty much perfect when it leaves here.
