id say try some of the items together within similar color families like the long green tunic, the black or brown leggings, and the brown cap with long things, then accesorize with your hat and such. but i hope you found a setup you like and had a fun time.

That you! And I had a great time. Outfit worked out. The only thing I really needed to buy was a good leather belt when I got there. The plastic one was just awful.

I have been in the SCA for a long time and I do actually wear some amazon clothing (I found a shirt I really like actually). At the end of the day, don't stress your first garb too much, no one should judge someone for the garb they go to their first event in, that said I think the last tunic makes for a great look. Getting an actual leather belt will be worth it, and I am sure there will be clothing vendors at Gulf war (boy is that a big event to hit as your first one, but it should be fun.)

@@GaroldtheWonderer I don't think its a bad idea to do a big event as a first event, but some people need to ease in a bit. The SCA can be a ton of fun (as long as people remember to not take it too seriously) and I hope you have a fantastic Gulf War!

My buddy is getting Knighted there it's the top rank in the Armoured rattan combat. If you fall in love with the event come to Pennsic wars in the summer.

Pennsic would be incredible. But I'm just happy there's an event close to me to go to. I literally just discovered it a couple of weeks ago and decided to go full in lol

@@GaroldtheWonderer Welcome and enjoy, you should be able to find similar clothing at their vendors but in mostly linen and cotton and that makes a huge difference in comfort and looks. If you see awesome camp sites you can probably ask for tourns and quick interviews. People are super friendly in the SCA and love talking about their kits and camping gear.

That belt is not something that good of a thing...I got one for just a Ren Faire thing after my dog decided to chew on my nicer one. It slides and is a pain in the rear to keep tight, especially with anything on it.

you can pull off a cloak with that pin and just a square of wool or a wool blanket. there are good tutorials on here

There are! I was thinking of doing some lighter weight material like canvas painters tarp. But I'm not sure yet.

Yeah, the polyester has a secondary problem of being intolerable in the heat if they don’t breathe. Cotton, hemp, rayon blends and linen are all good. I think all the tunics look great on you. Another source for you might be Destash Central- lots of gently used garb & accessories get posted there, and they include measurements. Hope you have a blast at Gulf! Hit up some bardic circles and I will live vicariously through your content.

Medieval collectables is a website that has medieval clothing. It can be a little more expensive than Amazon but definitely is not as expensive as most websites for medieval items. I have to say please please never wear the long johns that look like underwear to a sca event. I know you won’t but please never ever do that. Enjoy 😉

LOL! You remind me of me. Just trying hard to put something together that is comfortable and looks half decent. Finding cotton anymore is challenging I have found. I figure as long as I don't show up in shorts and a T-shirt I am festive.😄

Gulf Wars can be a bit overwhelming. My first time, last year, was super intimidating, and I've been in the SCA for 30 years! If you need help, or just to sit and talk, find Stjarna in the Raven's Fort/Bjornsborg camp immediately east of the Ansteorran camp. I'll do anything I can to help :D
