Could (And Should) Bing Bong Return In Inside Out 2?

I’m going to say no for this because it absolutely ruin the scene from the last film and the impact of it. And also, I’m going to sound like an absolute psychotic monster…But. I actually didn’t mind bing bong being forgotten. As much as the dude was friendly, he was only a figment of Riley’s imagination too, and so for me losing him wasn’t as bad as losing something more valuable not to mention he was kinda at the end of his rope too. I could understand why people got sad over it, it’s like losing your child hood toy or something on the lines of that. But my thinking is seeped in logic and fact. And the fact was, bing bong was inevitably going to go somehow. I know this was a pretty cold and brutal take.

The only way I could think of this working is if Bing Bong is like a kind guardian to the nostalgia of childhood memories in a section of Riley's mind that's literally named *Memory Lane* where unique moments of Riley's life resides protected by Bing Bong. Like we all have those moments where we take a walk down memory lane and recall specific moments that we never thought we would remember but never truly let go of, and sooner or later we go back to thinking about those moments, ones that even though we don't think of them that much, we never truly forgot them and one day look back on them again.

I'm genuinely surprised NOBODY seems to talk about the official Inside Out 2 movie poster... Because on it we get a few small glimpses of the new emotions (anxiety, ennui, embarrassment, and envy), and ONE of the emotions (which I can only assume is embarrassment specifically, based on the text colors at the end of the teaser) is PINK and looks suspiciously similar to Bing Bong. My guess is, they'll bring back Bing Bong in the form of Embarrassment. He'll LOOK like Bing Bong, and Joy may even mistake him for Bing Bong, but chances are he won't remember himself as Bing Bong.

Yeah, I was thinking that maybe the parents bring up Bing Bong in front of her friends and Riley gets all embarrassed and that's how the Embarrassment gets introduced....

No, I like how the movie handles loss of childhood, something that does indeed happen as you grow into a adult. The things you used to love doing at 3, seems very immature or even irritating or embarrassing. It would just be so cliche, and I think bing bong’s death really opened joy’s eyes to show her that… Riley is growing up, and to grow up means changes, a lot of changes. That she is going to have to be sad, or angry at times, but that makes the moments she was happy a lot more precious.

I don't think it not necessary because Riley is already growing up so why would he come back qhen he is just an imagination friend from riley as a child.

To bring Bing Bong back, maybe in the end or in almost on the end of the film, this is what they could do: Since Riley is like like probably 13 years old, we could see her grow up to be 14 and 15, then we could see Riley getting bullied and then her going through a lot of emotions like: Sadness, disgust, fear? and maybe more. We nearly saw her get depressed when joy nearly disappeared, so something like that could happen again. And when we see Riley go through all of these emotion’s, maybe we see Riley so upset to the point where Joy can’t even make Riley happy, so she starts remembering Bing Bong and she starts to hallucinate him, then Bing Bong actually starts being with all of the emotions, so even tho he isn’t an emotion, he can still take control of her mind whenever she feels bored or sad or happy and she can think of him.

My guess is Riley would return in the Inside out 2 if it is about Riley who wants to pursue Hockey as a career or joins a club, but in the club she feels like giving up until her parents notices her 'giving up' phase, they use Bing Bong's songs to cheer her up because hey parents record their kids when kids have fun. And that is how Bing Bong is revived with all the memories of the past movie. The message would be even growing up it is okay to have child like personality but hey what do I know😂

I think bringing back bing bong would kinda work but a different bing bong, as Riley wouldn't remember him properly. Perhaps Bing Bong was forgotten as a physical character, but there were still distant memories along with drawings and other external prompts. Obviously there is the issue of Riley having the motivation to bring back Bing Bong outside of memories. Possibly Bing Bong would work better if they do a prequel to inside out.😊

It needs to be like general kai style from kung fu panda 4 where he's been training in the forgotten realm for years and comes back with a vengeance. then he basically becomes thanos and has to collect each color of core memory to escape rileys mind and wreak havoc on the world.

I agree. I don't think he should come back, but that would be the way to do it if he did. But they could, and maybe should, go in a different direction.

If he did come back one way or another, I’ve been wanting it to be as a new emotion (possibly love or hope, something along those lines). I always found it strange that he was still thriving after all these years, as wasn’t forgotten at all. His dying action was out of his love for Riley when he was part of her life, and hoped to help save her by getting Joy out and back to headquarters. I know people are saying there might be a fifth new emotion coming with the sequel cause the other four can match well with one of the old/base emotions. Joy is about making the best out of what’s going on in Riley’s life. Someone like hope or especially love would always be wanting good for Riley but lead her more into the unpredictability of life.
