What about the man who was recently released after serving atound 18 years in jail for a sexual crime that he hadn't commited. The police had information that materialised later which proved his innocence but did nothing. That in my opinion is one of the worst miscarriages of justice in UK history.

And what about all the people who are completely properly convicted and say they are innocent. Whataboutery isn’t going to get anyone anywhere. We all know that there are miscarriages of justice. We all know that people are correctly convicted who continue to deny being guilty. One has to look at an individual case. Referring to other cases is wholly irrelevant.

@ncooper8438 unbelievably tragic. They left him in jail years after they had the means to verify whether it was him or not. Its important also to remember that we have many 10's of 1000's of dedicated and honourable police officers. This tarnishes the reputation of the whole organisation. He suffered terribly but others pay a price too.

Hate to say this but I watched a film years ago called The Verdict. Paul Newman as a lawyer, a case of medical malpractice. You would need to look up the plot, of course it’s fiction but the story can’t have just come out of the blue, it was just such an unusual one for a film. This case with the nurse just strikes a cord with me.

@@beowulf1312 I don´t think there was necessarily no evidence, I just think the evidence wasn´t overwhelming, not least that several experts have now said they think that the stats were misinterpreted. Not only that, she definitely didn´t get the best case possible made for her. When it comes to appeals, the courts are reluctant to overturn convictions unless the judge did something wrong, new evidence has come to light, it turns out that a witness was lying, or there was something else that undermined the person´s chance to have a fair trial. Another problem is that courts are behind psychological research when it comes to demeanour evidence. Demeanour evidence isn´t all that strong when it comes to assessing people´s guilt.

Means what? Jail till court ? Certainly in Lucy’s case That’s okay because really serious stuff was falsified to ensure that she was found guilty So all those years in jail before trial you know when she was still presumed innocent they were not wasted And they don’t need to be accounted against her sentence either because she got whole of life What is this notion “(presumably) innocent until proven guilty” that you speak of Lucy was presumed guilty from the moment the one person we know actually DiID murder at least one baby (I believe more) went to the police He worked solidly to develop suspicion about Lucy for months first though Then sat and ‘I can not remember” or “I can not answer that question” while a potentially innocent woman goes to jail for whole of life What kind of person is that - despicable Innocent until proven guilty - come on now

@@holycannoli64 And you are? Well firstly, she was the only nurse to be on shift for the death of each individual baby. Secondly, the post mortem xrays showed that air was present in the bloodstream of many of the babies. The immunoassay tests found high levels of insulin in the blood and low levels of C-peptide meaning the insulin had not been naturally produced, someone administered it externally. Those 3 pieces of evidence along with consultants suspicions, hand written notes found in her bedroom and the fact that she searched the families of the victims on social media is enough to convict her. Stop being an armchair conspiracy theorist. The babies were murdered, she killed them and you are defending her.

Prosecution expert Dewi Evans behaviour seems a bit odd - uncharectaristically for people in his position put himself forward rather than been asked. Dewi Evans changing a cause of death after a murder conviction. The doctor that waited for months before saying he saw her killing a baby. The fact that MD in Private Eye has been writing about all this for months in the well respected fortnightly publication. The fact that in every Eye article they reference respected Doctors, Paediatricians, Pathologists, Statisticians, Level 3 Nurses etc etc that seem to be or are supporting Letby's innocence and that the conviction is built on sand.

Ive looked at quite a few in depth documentaries and my conclusion is mike many cases front line staff have been made to carry the can for senior management gross incompetence. The fact they were extremely short staffed and Lucy was providing cover with long hours made her vulnerable for blame. It was shown that she was on shift for nearly all deaths etc. However the time sheet shown only showd a selected period where she was on every shift which would naturally make you fit the criteria. However the following time period where she had less shifts, deaths were happening whilst she was off duty. This was hidden from the jury. All here front line colleagues thinks shes innocent.

Lucy is innocent. If you want to murder little babies on a neonatal ward without it showing up in the blood results or at the autopsy, or due to the monitor records then it is almost impossible to do this. As a relatively new nurse, her level of knowledge would make it so difficult that her chances of success are vanishingly small. She is not stupid, so she would know this. So if she managed to find a method the first time which left no trace and was not suspicious the last thing she would do is to use two or three other methods?? Why change? If she is innocent of some of the deaths then the case against her for the others collapses because it was all based on the hypothosies of Dr Evans. No proof. Also, if she was really doing a bit of mass murder, why buy a house?? Why didn't she use her savings to have a great time before her inevitable conviction, particularly if she was trying different murder methods? And why was she paying for councelling before her trial ? People only need councelling for things that are unexpected and not for an entirely predictable situation. She would only want councelling because she was being blamed for reasons that made no sense to her, because she is innocent. Her conviction makes no psychological sense.

You're clutching at straws. It's been done before. Beverley Allitt did it and thought she wouldn't get caught, but did. What does a house have to do with it? You do know that serial killers try to cover their tracks and try their best to pretend they are normal, right?
