It has become increasingly obvious that Scotland has been steadily diverging from the rest of Britain, both culturally and politically, over the last couple of decades. In Northern Ireland(NI), the unquestioned Unionist majority has nearly vanished, and politics is breaking out of the old, sterile, sectarian headcount. The UK has got, at most, a ten year life expectancy. Whether it be Scotland, or NI, which leaves first is basically irrelevant. Whichever does go first will cause the collapse of the UK... The reality is that the English nationalism which drove Brixit does not give a single, solitary, damn about any of the three Celtic nations which make up the rest of the UK...

Same thing could be said about Northern Ireland (and whatever Kings/Queens we want to credit for that conquered territory.) 500 years of stiff-upper-lip English resistance - and untold buckets of blood - might be all for naught if Ireland is allowed unite the whole island (so as to properly seal off England from the EU). @Duncan Sands Sorry, but when, PRECISELY, did Ireland "...go bankrupt"? At least 5 million Irish people would like to know when that happened... In reality, citizens and residents the Republic of Ireland enjoy an average, per capita, GDP/GNP/GNI far higher than the UK can offer its citizens. At least twice that of Northern Ireland(NI)...

@@cisium1184 "Ten years is not a bad run considering the EU has only six to eight years left"? The Brixiteers and British Euro-sceptics have been claiming that the ECSC/EEC/EC/EU is going to collapse in "...only six to eight years..." since about 1950. They have been proven utterly, hilariously, wrong for just about 70 years. That is quite a long time to be so comprehensively wrong... And there is no real likelihood that they will ever be proved right in the next 70 years either... Can you provide ANY evidence to support your idiotic claim that "...the EU has only six to eight years left"? Waiting with bated breath, we are...

As an Englishman who's always been proud of our union, I've always been dismayed at the thought of Scotland leaving the union. However, I'm now so happy for Scotland rejecting Boris Johnson's Brexit and his far right agenda. Like them, I don't want to be living in a country run by a far right Tory government. I'd even escape to an independent Scotland where their electorate actually have half a clue, and a desire to live in a progressive and liberal society. England is screwed.

In Scotland the Torys have not had a majority of the Scottish people vote for them for 60 years. Yet for 36 years of those 60 years the Torys have governed Scotland.
