Then there are large carnivores like T-rex that can make them into snacks. Also let's not forget the mid size carnivores like some Raptors that have a killing claw, no matter how loose or thick your skin is, it won't stop a Raptor from going after your neck.

The only thing with honey badgers is they get eaten a lot more often than the videos will show. Yeah they defend themselves very well, and usually aren't worth the effort But everything from crocs to cheetahs do kill adult badgers for food. I see young T.rex being the biggest issue. The loose skin works well but those bite forces and more serrated teeth probably would cut into it if not just rupture organs and smash bone. That also seems to be how mid sized crocs take them, just beating them to death and gulping them down whole.
@TheVividen6 ай бұрын
Great comment! I'd definitely agree that young tyrannosaurs would be the biggest threat--they have the speed, power, and agility to take down anything their size or smaller, and even punch above their own weight class. But there would also be more desirable prey animals in Hell Creek than a 15-30 pound devil that hides underground, and by making themselves a less-than-ideal meal the badgers would likely thrive.
@godzillakingofthemonsters58126 ай бұрын
@@TheVividen Fair point, Hell Creek's also weird in that there's no real other "mid sized" predatory dinosaurs since Dakotaraptor's bust and the whole Nano thing would just be the same as young T.rex even if its a different animal. There is a large lizard though correct? And small crocodiles?
@Skyypixelgamer6 ай бұрын

The internet memes have elevated the formidability of the honey badger to ridiculous extremes. Yes, they do stand up to larger predators, but so do pack hunting dinosaurs like velociraptors. A honey badger is much less likely to win a dick-measuring contest with one of them. Intimidation tactics also depend on the target species being intelligent enough to experience confusion when facing something atypical. Honey badgers can intimidate lions because lions are smart enough to have second thoughts. Less intelligent animals are less likely to act outside their natural instincts. In a world of dinosaurs which - let's be honest, weren't overly gifted with brains - a lot of honey badgers would just end up as stains under very large feet. TheVividen gives them a 9; I'd give them a more realistic 7.

I'm not sure how much this would impact their chances, but worth considering is the loose thick skin of honey badgers is a great defense against the teeth and claws of other mammals. I'm not sure how this defense would fare against the regularly replenished cutting teeth of theropods. Certainly not as well as against the generally more crush and choke-adapted teeth of big cats that predate upon them. I doubt it would be too many points off for them, and probably less of an issue than the absence of abundant terrain for burrowing, but something else to consider.

Are you only doing IRL creatures in this series, or are you open to fictional creatures? If you're open to fictional creatures, it'd be interesting to see how you'd rank The Future Predator (Primeval) in India/ S.E Asia during the late Pilocene/early Pleistocene (around 1.8 Mya, when Erectus arrives in the area).

That would be really interesting! I've only done real-life creatures so far, but I'm open to exploring fictional ones as well.

@@TheVividen That's awesome!! If you do consider this idea, I look forward to it!!

Average Tyrannosaurus vs Honey badger “Mmm! Waiter More Honey badgers please!” People seem to forget they’re not invincible and are commonly hunted by leopards.
@Th0ughtf0rce6 ай бұрын
More likely to be pests to the T. rex. Sure, they'd get stomped by adults and preyed on by juveniles, but could be a major problem for the eggs and babies.

@@Th0ughtf0rcehighly doubt it. We Don't see them go after crocodiles eggs .(we’ll at least video documentary of it)

Okay now I'm wondering if a "polar bear tyrant lizerd" could survive in the modern day.

Are you referring to Nanuqsaurus? That would be interesting indeed!

@@TheVividen that's it, I just forgot it's name but thankfully I remembered the meaning. And ya it would, it would probably live in places like Yellowstone and live off of bison, dear, and elc.

Honey badgers would certainly bring chaos to hell creek.But I also wonder how other mustelids would fair like otters and wolverines.
@beastmaster09346 ай бұрын
Wolverines would probably do rather poorly, since they are adapted for cold climates, not balmy ones like Hell Creek. Otters, depending on the species, would do pretty well. Especially tropical otters, such as the giant Amazon river otter.
@Skyypixelgamer6 ай бұрын
@@beastmaster0934 that’s pretty fair, but I will say wolverines have a historically range that goes pretty far down into America such as the middle west.
@TheVividen6 ай бұрын
I'm sure they'd both find their niches! Otters would be really interesting, since I'm not sure if they'd even have much competition
