I just don't see a high profile coach coming to the Bears, whether we are talking about Johnson or Shanahan, or whomever. First, is ownership willing to pay a top tier coach? Thus far, that's a big no... but even if the team was willing to pay, the construct of the Bears organization leaves upper mgt. at the helm. Most solid coaches require a certain amount of control and I just don't see Poles or Warren giving up that control. I think we will again see a first time head coach and/or an experienced one on his 2nd or third run. In either case, I wouldn't expect it to be a galvanized top tier prospect.

Honestly being a great coordinator doesn't make Ben Johnson a head coach.

Exactly. He's good as an offense coordinator because he's focused on offense. The defense is still great. Everyone forgets that. The defense is responding well to Flus. It's a tough call. I say relax, it's the rookies first year. Don't start tearing down the ship. We should have expecting growing pains. It's like we're mad now because of growing pains. We seen the roster and thought playoffs. The team was put in position to win the damn game. We have a great kicker. We're mad because of a field goal got blocker. If we were 5 yards closer guess what? THAT FIELD GOAL STILL GETS BLOCKED. BEARS FANS NEVER WANT TO GO THROUGH THE STRUGGLE. ALL OF THIS TURNOVER IS WHY THERES NEVER SUSTAINED SUCCESS. THIS TEAM PLAYED GREEN BAY TOUGH. REAL TOUGH AND SHOULD HAVE WON. AND FANS WANT TO START CHOPPING HEADS. IF TOU GET WHAT YOU WANT NEXT GAME AGAINST GREEN BAY WE WILL LOSE 42-3 AND YOU'LL BE CONPLAINING ABOUT THAT. LOVIE GOT CHOPPED AFTER A WINNING RECORD. ONE MISSED PLAYOFF SEASON WITH A WINNING RECORD AND FANS WANTED HIM GONE

I REALLY LIKE SHANAHAN because his offense is good while maintaining a top tier defense in San Fran. My worry about Thomas Brown is that they will get the offense right and neglect the defense which is still top 5-10 and #1 in red zone and other important stats. The defense is still playing great. That big play doesn't happen if Jaylen doesn't slip. He had that crossing route covered perfectly. He was running so close to the reciever that he got his feet tangled up. If that didn't happen not only was it not gonna be a big play, but it might have been picked off and the game would have been over

When we went to Nagy he was a good OC, but he never called plays in KC. Andy Reid called the plays. So he was in over his head. Ben Johnson calls the plays in Detroit. He gets respect up there. I’ll take him for his first job.

Why would he leave SF where he works for good owners to come to our Bears to work for the McCaskey's. IF...IF we part ways with Eberfu*k we need a PROVEN winning coach. No more first timers, GD let's get a winning coach for a damn change. We have talent let's take the GD North!! I'm all for more of the Sandman!!

I know we don't care about the 49ers but that would be a really bad business decision by them to let him walk out the building. The Bears would have to compete with the league to get him. Even Jerry Jones probably would throw money at him. He hasn't won a superbowl but I'm not sure where you can find a guy with that kind of success at his age on the street. Unless there is some fighting again in the 49ers front office, this would probably set their franchise back. Also, he would probably want control and I don't think that would sit well with Poles or the organization. They like rank and file head coaches who won't shake the order which is why they only have one Superbowl win and trophies back in the 1940 aka when WWII was happening. At the time Andy Reid was fired good or bad, he had put together two really one bad year; he was also dealing with some personal issues. I believe his son died or something during that time. I remember people saying Andy need to take a year off but we found that he took the KC job that offseason. Also, here is another problem, Jim Harbaugh reportedly got 16 million a season. That's a lot of money on a coach in a franchise that usually don't invest that kind of money. Obviously, you want Shanahan over Johnson because Johnson hasn't proved anything and there is nothing to suggest he will be a great coach worth the money he is going to demand. I think in the history of first time head coaches most are fired before 5 years. I don't think Thomas Brown is ready to be a head coach but it seems he was the best OC on this staff. Another poor decision by the head coach in hiring Walton.

Give me Kyle, but he needs an OG Defensive Coordinator. Only thing that worries me is the 3 super bowls that he lost from allegedly not staying aggressive.

I cant bail him out. Matt Ryan and Julio were cooking. He played it safe during the second half calls. I Agree with Garopolo, but Purdy is good and had some killer weapons. Now that others mentioned it. Coming to the Bears would be similar to the Andy Reid situation. Choked several times with Eagles, but a God with the Chiefs. 🤞it still happens

Kyle is a great offensive mind but he does not make in game adjustments. He runs his offense and doesn’t deviate from it. That fact contributed to ATL losing the super bowl and the Niners losing leads in the 4th quarter as well. Just food for thought….Flus’s big knock is his lack of situational awareness at the end of games…Kyle will likely frustrate Bears fans just the same at the end of games. If Kyle did come I would hope he hire Saleh as the DC….

You guys don’t want Ben Johnson, he let a 1:07 run off the clock at the end of the DET/MIN game, instead of trying to get a closer FG. 1st and 10 @ Minn 22 1:07 4th QTR turned into 4th and 14 after intentionally losing 4 yards via kneel down. Then Ben Johnson did something nobody could believe… he asked his kicker to make a 44 yard FG as time expired……… Definitely want to stay away from Ben Johnson as “only a fool who doesn’t understand football would let a 1:07 run off the clock facing a 44 yard FG attempt”

Yeah as long as it’s the right decision. Look around the league for teams that actually build something over time a lot of times it’s first time head coaches. The Bears just haven’t done it right. On the flip side there are a lot of time veteran coaches don’t work. It’s all about just getting the right guy regardless of who they are
