No. The reason why they didn't see Wanda as a threat is because she was totally different in their universe. She was nowhere near the power level of the Scarlet Witch. Therefore, there wasn't a plan in place for her. That's why Captain Marvel said, "Oh we can handle your little witch." They didn't know what was coming.

Yeah, he's unbelievably intelligent and a master tactician. The movie (all the movies, really) do him a disservice. One of the main reasons Doctor Doom is such an excellent villain is because he has to be to ever win against Reed Richards and the Fantastic Four. Now Reed has a few massive failings. For one, he can be totally driven by a "means justifying the ends" mentality. In the comics he has very few qualms doing some very horrible stuff if it means that the good guys win. He will willingly sacrifice others to win. He's also aloof, extremely arrogant, and has a propensity to be very single-minded and solipsistic, to the point where the rest of the Fantastic Four usually have to get him to do a mental detour when they see another potential path to victory. In may ways he and Victor Von Doom are the same person -- the major difference between the two often comes down to goals and ideology most of the time.

Silver Age Batman was pretty happy-go-lucky, and the early 60s (Reed has been this way a VERY long time) was still the Silver Age. Even then, Batman at the end of the day won't kill. The Reed Richards of this universe simply didn't want to fight. Him threatening 616-Wanda through Black Bolt is just him not wanting to destroy Wanda out of nowhere. I'd like to think that the way Krasinki acted out the scene, he didn't expect that they would really need to destroy Wanda and it was too late to really plan things out. But knowing Strange's hearing, this Illuminati was so biased against Stephen and is arrogant enough to not see the threat that Wanda presents (maybe because they never got the Civil War and Westview history). Richards is a hero for a reason. Despite his intelligence, he still has compassion and understanding and I think that is your worst weakness against a rampaging Scarlet Witch who is fixated on getting her kids back.

I feel like black bolt's power was so overwhelming and so reliable that he didnt feel the need for a backup plan. He could plan for everything he had experienced, but he had never dealt with reality warping power like Wanda's. It makes sense, but I would have liked him to at least try some kind of power nullification device before relying on the nuclear option of black bolt vaporizing her. He shouldn't have gone straight from negotiations to killing wanda.

Yea, the MCU really did him justice, I tell ya what... And Black Bolt's first instinct, when realizing he has no mouth, is to talk and blow his own brain out? He's trained himself to manage his emotions and speak purely in sign language to avoid making a sound. He knows what he's capable of more than anyone. He suddenly can't do this to save his own life? Loses all discipline because "Oh no, no mouth!"? I don't buy it. That's the only way Scarlet Witch could even contend with a Black Bolt she doesn't know the powers of. He would've had the upper hand. He always tries to negotiate and deescalate and only uses fighting as a last resort which is what he did to Wanda because at the end of they day she's still an innocent woman being possessed by an alternate universe version of herself. There's another channel I watch called Death Battle that pits characters from different comics, games and anime against each other after carefully analyzing all their strengths and weaknesses to determine who might come out on top. Recently they did a video with Scarlet Witch vs Zatanna, roughly the DC equivalent to Wanda. Victory in that match went to Zatanna and in the after-explanation they admitted that the battle could've very easily gone either way but felt Zatanna would've won because of a big weakness of Wanda's vs a big strength of Zatanna's. Wanda has a history of mental/emotional instability that far weaker opponents have been able to exploit to take her down, even when she's at her most powerful. Zatanna, on the other hand, has a reputation of staying calm under pressure, giving her an edge against the more unstable Wanda. I feel the same would've/should've happened with Mr. Fantastic. I get what you're saying about his death being a plot device to build up Wanda's strength but there comes a point where you have to balance building up one character while also keeping the "dignity", for lack of a better term, of another character intact. Mr. Fantastic has a big fanbase from what I've heard so I don't think it did the movie or the MCU any good to so casually toss him aside like that.

But that weakness only applies to 616 Wanda and not HIS Wanda who, for all intents and purposes, is not the same person psychologically. In his universe, the Wanda he's had wasn't mentally unstable and never had all of the deep-seated trauma that 616 Wanda experience. Which, in turn, made her less of a threat due to the likely fact that the Wanda of that world was never experimented on. So, in order for Reed to have exploited her, he'd have had to have the knowledge of being able to use that instability against her somehow. But he didn't have that frame of reference for 616 Wanda, so he and the rest of the illuminati ended up dying because he made the mistake of assuming she was the same as their Wanda. There's also the fact that telling the villain an intimidating aspect of what someone else can do is a go-to tactic in a lot of comic books. It's terrible writing and it really should not have happened, but still.

While, I was dissapointed about Professor X, that scene was my favorite of the whole movie. It felt like a mini Avengers movie. I mean I think it's fair that Reed died so quickly. Lets be real, he was trying to be reasonable to start with and start negotiations. He had 0 time to prepare so I doubt he would have had some kind of Ultimate Anti-Scarlet Witch Bat Spray on hand. Plus even most villains don't just go straight for the throat like Wanda did. He's not super fast or anything so running wouldn't have been an option once she started her offensive. Honestly once he was in the same room as her, he was as good as dead. And I think it's reasonable that he would have thought he could talk to her. I don't know why people got so upset. First of all they all clearly underestimated Wanda as Captain Carter stated "We can handle your little witch" and prioritized Dr. Strange as the bigger threat when he wasn't. Second, the illuminati dying so soon isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things since that was just an alternate version with the main 616 versions not been established yet (Let's be honest alternate versions of characters usually end up being fodder in most stories anyway). Lastly, yeah I have no doubt in my mind Reed can come up with something to stop Wanda if he knew what he was dealing with and while there was a Wanda in his universe she was clearly not evil and not on the same power as the main Wanda. Anyway even though the cameos were amazing, I'm more excited for how they'll be introduced in the main 616 verse in the near future. Let's hope for the best.

I can sleep better at night knowing that this isn't the main Black Bolt, I don't think he would freak out considering the decade and a half that he's trained mentally in confinement to not even utter a single noise in bed with his wife, so this means he doesn't make noise at all, he's disciplined when it comes to not making any noise like sneezing and coughing subconsciously, with that in mind Black Bolt would definitely be scared, but would he break that easily? The complete over-powering of The Scarlet Witch is the worst thing to happen to the character. I've always preferred her as a mutant whose "hexes" altered probability. I humbly, in part, disagree. Firstly, as Marvel rewrote the back story behind the House of M, people should stop saying that Wanda wiped out 98% of the mutants with her own power. Marvel changed the storyline where Wanda, with the help of Dr. Doom, connected with a power source that boosted her powers to the level of causing House of M. By herself, she does not (or did not) have the power to do what she did (similar to how technically Jean Grey was never the Phoenix). Also, during the contest of champions, Tony Stark admitted (and showed) that he had come up with a way to counter all the Avengers' powers, including Wanda's hex spheres. So it stands to reason that if Tony can do it, so could Reed. That being said, in an impromptu fight with no fore knowledge of facing Wanda, she would probably win. And don't even get me started with her versus Professor X...

I mean, it is kind of the point of the Alternate universe characters. When Marvel doesn't or can't kill off a 616 character, "Oh no, alternate universe ### has been killed!" I'm pretty sure everyone was expecting the Illuminate to lose anyways. Killing them outright was a bit of a surprise but given the fact she killed so many people earlier, not that big of a surprise either. Honestly the Kamar-Taj and this moment both reminded me that "Oh yeah. Sam Raimi directed this. Of course he kill them off so brutally." While I've been a supporter of the casting of John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic and wish he had more screen time in DS2, I understand that he and the rest of the Illuminati were merely a plot device to demonstrate just how powerful Wanda as the Scarlet Witch was. And like you said, this was 838's version of Reed and we should be happy that 1) Marvel considered the fanbase and the fancasting for Reed and 2) Our main 616 Mr. Fantastic will be BETTER than 838's. I'm hoping they keep John Krasinski in the role, but to be honest, my needs were satiated with this cameo. If they decide to keep him, then GREAT!
