Nothing to do with the royal family, they DON'T decide who does or doesn't have security, as noted by the fact that ONLY the monarch, the spouse and their heir/heir's family have security. The rest (such as the incredibly hard working Princess Royal or the Edinburghs only have security IF they are representing the monarch. And the Princess Royal actually survived - fought off - an armed kidnapper who shot and wounded several people in the failed kidnapping attempt. There are even fewer firearms around now due to the laws having been tightened up - at the populations request - since then so Harry's paranoia needs serious medial assistance.

As for security, it's been suggested that the real goal for H&M is to get IPP status restored. Also, it's been reported recently that Harry is on an A1 - diplomatic - visa. He definitely shouldn't be as he has no official role to be in the USA.
