He doesn't take into account the speed by which Canada could mobilize troops. Most people in rural and Northern Canada are already familiar with weaponry. At the end of the second World War the population of Canada was only about 12 million yet it had the third largest Navy in the world and the fourth largest Air Force.

And honestly, the real amount of Canada's war effort and donations to Britain are truly immense. The manufacturing was a well oiled organized feat, creating 1million combat vehicles, then there was aircraft production, weapons, ammo and ordinance, food stuffs, raw materials, the construction of the commonwealth airtraining program called the PLAN which Canada payed billions of dollars for, not to mention the 1billion dollar donation and further loans in the billions range in today's money is tens of billions. While supplying over 250k fighting men.

Actually it takes. Russia acts pretty rationally since the Khrushchev (or whatever you butcher his name), and since the Putin it acts extremely rationally. The is no reason for Russia to invade Canada, and lots to lose in terms of international trade, not to mention that China would probably use the opportunity to attack Russia and take eastern Siberia for it's resources. I think Russia is going to duck down for the next decades and mainly fear of Chinese agression over Siberia.
@HeyImLucious

@@SparrowNoblePoland The main point of the comment was just as a joke b/c of Russia's stereotypical *"ANGERY"* nature. Russia obviously isn't angry all the time but they are the only contemporary 1st world power to annex territory through force of arms in quite a few decades. Whether or not Sevastople/Crimea/Ukraine/etc. belongs to Russia or not is a completely separate discussion. Just pointing out that it happened.

Considering that the Russian military, when operating outside of Russia, has an exceptionally poor history (primarily due to doctrine and in-grained nationalistic ideology), and that the Canadians are a resourceful people. Furthermore, even while the USA in your scenario would remain "neutral" (although Canada is one of the largest American trading partners and an historically staunch ally), the American people, however, would not remain neutral. There would be an unending flood of weapons and patriots north into Canada, including many anti-tank / anti-aircraft weapons as well. It would quickly turn into a colossal strategic failure for Russia (not to mention a horrendously expensive one).

You hit the nail on the head when you mention Resourceful As I’ve noticed in literally all of these military analysis videos they don’t take into account the biggest advantage of the side of the defence, and that is the standing Civilian population There are many a hunter in the Norther Territories of Canada many people with more then enough firearm experience to be rallied into function and while not military level definitely very dangerous (especially once you account for knowledge of the terrain) militia’s which would make the losses even greater And then as you said, there is a big fat no on the chances that there wouldn’t be many Americans travelling the border and canadians sure as hell woudlnt’ stop em if they wanted to fall in line with the troops and swing the tide.

@@nicholasbrassard3512 Are you joking? You must be joking. As I write this, the government is seeking bids to buy new pistols. To replace the ones that we've had since WW2. Which were actually made as lend-lease aid to the Chinese Nationalist faction to fight Japan, but ended up surplus. Not long ago we bought some second-hand F-18's from Australia because our 40-year-old jets are falling apart and we've been arguing about how to even have a fair contest for a replacement for about 15 years. Our navy can't meet our NATO commitments because they literally don't have enough working ships to defend the coastlines. Our (second-hand) submarines keep catching fire - while under water! And we can't seem to figure out who's even going to build replacement ships, or when. We sent peacekeepers to Mali in 2018. The comment from the general who reviewed the troops when they arrived was that we need to purchase new uniforms because the current ones are literally falling apart at the seams and our soldiers are wearing rags. We aren't ordering new ones, though. We're arguing about whether we should get the same fancy digi pattern camo that Russia and the US use instead of sticking to the CADPAT pattern patented by our own government. With all of that, one thing I will say for sure about the Canadian Forces is that they're well trained. Every Canadian soldier I ever talk to about their foreign service has tales of being treated as elite military royalty by our allies. They know our gear is leftover junk, but the soldier carrying it will go through hell and come back to tell you that he planted our flag when he got there.

Canada would not need any help because Russian Generals are not idiots. Russia would not invade anywhere you indicated because geography would defeat them at those sites. Canada would not even fight in the arctic archipelago as the weather and horrendous logistics would do the job. The sites you identified are essentially barren frozen rocks. It is extremely expensive to supply small groups of soldiers in the arctic in peace time and there are no local resources. Forget about supporting a large military outpost with supply lines being harassed. Either east or west coast invasions face bottlenecks which prevent Russia from using numerical advantages to win tactical victories. The Canadian population and industrial centres are protected by geography which would ultimately allow Canada to generate localized numerical superiority to Russian forces at any invasion site. Something that would not be lost on Russian Generals.

This scenario suggests it would take '6 months to a year' -In which time the Canadians could put together a very strong defence. I don't think the Russians would be able to hold on to any gains they made. Even if the USA stays neutral I'm sure they'd be more than happy to sell Canada all the tanks and aircraft that it might need. The only way I see Canada permanently losing territory would be if the Russians were able to launch a large and rapid attack.

The US is no Belgium, and would likely keep a healthy bubble where they simply would not allow the Russians to trespass. The logistics involved would be massive and difficult to manage. And much like many parts of Russia, Canada has a lot of difficult, inhospitable terrain. Sure, Russia could invade, but they couldn't land enough troops to pose any real threat, nor could they sustain the troops they did land for very long. It's also highly unlikely the US would remain neutral, as they tend to see Canada as their back yard and any threat to Canada would be perceived to be a threat to the US.

Meaning that within six months Canada could train, arm and supply an army of 500,000. The army commanders and generals are also very capable and can efficiently manage their troops. This "war" would most likely be a slow drawn out war of attrition with little actual fighting due to the extream distances. The verdict being a draw.

Literally hundreds to thousands are sitting in the order completion lot at any given time) Oh..whats that? Canada has 16 million guns in the hands of civilians and is the most armed civilian populace out of the 20 most powerful nations on the planet next only to the Unites States?! Wow what an interesting fact, that would be lots of fun for the Russians lol. Even if every farmer/farm boy with a simple bolt action took out ONE russian soldier before being blown to pieces himself, the Russian army wouldn't even make it through ONE province (... fuck me and my buddies could rig up enough traps and bring enough guns with us to kill 10 times our number before we inevitably take a tank round to the face. Fun fact. Canada = Small United States. Nobody in their right mind would try to attack the U.S even if the U.S had no military... and Canada is no exception. A small but highly trained, deadly military with superior tanks to the russians, far superior LAV's, most of which can take out older Russian tanks (which make up the bulk of the Russian tanks lol), on home soil...with overwhelming militia support (literally in the potential millions). And all spread out over the second largest land mass on earth that would be completely impossible to control or occupy. Never mind the Canadian ability to replenish resources due to defenders advantage. Never mind the hundreds of thousands of Veterans who still have their training, experience and guns who would lead hundreds of thousands of Canadian Militia in a hilarious slaughter of the Russians. "Ya but the Russians got soooooo many Tanks!!!"" Ya ok so they are just gunna ship all 22,000 tanks to Canada and leave Russia totally defenseless lol? And since we've established that their infantry shitty force will easily get wiped out what are those tanks going to do with no infantry support? Run out of ammo and chase Canadian soldiers/militia around trying to run them over until they run out of fuel lol? The Russian air force would be useless because there WOULD BE NOTHING TO SUPPORT after a few weeks. The funds required to conquer Canada would result in the complete collapse of Russia back home, they would defeat themselves lol. I mean... do I have to reiterate on the whole Russia being poorer than Canada thing again? Thats why Canada is a G7 nation, and Russia isn't (but sometimes its included in the "G8"). There is no potential 'If America didnt get involved' scenario. Thats not because of any connection between Canada and the US, even if we hated each other, the US wouldnt let it happen. Why? Because the 49th parallel is just too close for Russia to be, to the US, its just too close. All potential first strike and response capabilities fall apart if all Russia has to do it lob nukes over a border, and there is no way the US would ever stand for that loss of strategic advantage. The other problem here is, 85% of the Canadian population and its centres are close to the border, which means there is no one or anything of any value up north to bother capturing. Add to that the seriously dense forest to get south and you're not going anywhere. Add to that the west coast (the easiest access to Canada) is a rock with a full dense forest on top of it. There is no long stretches of beaches like France. The only way in by sea, is the Vancouver Juan de Fuca Straight ... and if you have ever been there, you would quickly realise that you don't want to be sailing aircraft carriers and destroyers in there, you wouldnt last long and it would be difficult to escape from. All in all ... it wouldnt be a minor success, but likely a dismal failure ... and a pretty dumb idea to waste a video on.

These 'walls' mean nothing when the red team has the mobility and air superiority to do what they want in their own time. There are some serious hill boys that will lay a beating on most Russian troops and be into the action fast, but they are extremely limited and once gone, the window is no longer valid to train them. CAF is not and never was a stand alone force..

Honestly, I don't think Canada could lose because if the Russians took the west coast then the Canadians would just dig in at the Rockies and blow up the roads and the Russians would be screwed, and then the Canadians could focus on the east coast pushing them out. And by then many more people would join the Canadian military and the Russians would be outnumbered and supplies would be running low.

One major problem with your analysis. Canadians in every world war has been able to amass a large military in a short time and Canadians are amongst the best trained in the world. Your analysis is based on the assumption that Canada would not build up it armed forces quickly. From what we are seeing from the current Russian invasion in Ukraine, the Russian Army is poorly equipped and using substandard equipment. The Russian army tactics are at best poorly organized. I would guarantee that Canada would have a million person armed forces within a number of months.

I feel like the distances presented in this scenario and the EXTREME difficultly passing over the land are being a little understated. Even for areas without permafrost, the ground becomes impassable in the summer. There's literally only 120 professional soldiers guarding the whole of our Northern Territories. Nunavut has no roads connecting it to the rest of the country. Maybe we could stop a push on Yellowknife or Whitehorse, but the rest of the north would be captured with only a couple Russians injured from hypothermia. Ok, i get your point but you make major mistake in your video. For the background, first of all, im a canadian soldier and i served in the artic. They are many airfield in the canadian artic. Sure they are smaller than the one in the south, but they are a dozen of them and each can store 2 to 6 plane with hangar, fuel and maintenance crew. Secondly, the regular army is not 33 000 strong but 60 000 strong. Also, in the north, canada relly ont the ranger corp, a corp made of native inuit who know the land like their pocket and would be trained to slow down and harass the ennemy. Another factor that you failed to mention is that the temperature is only -30 c•. This is before the wind factor (wich you gonna get alot in the north since there is basically no mountain or anything to break it) I went there two week and the average temperature was -45-60 c• and the coldest we got was -72 c• with the wind factor. At this temperature, oil freeze and electronic equipement freeze to. When we were there, all of our snowmobile needed to be alway running so that they dont freeze of. The land is harsh and impitoyable. Water is hard to get, food is scarce and even with radar, the land is almost impenetrable and you MUST have the local inuit to guide you. The russian would never be suitable to hold here. To sum up my point, our army is bigger, we got a lot of small airbase up north, we got trained soldier always in the north and the land is to arsh to even considered occupied it. Its also important that except for some military and native infrastructure in the north, all the cities and population of canada live in the south. Their will be literally thousand of miles of land with no infrastructure and no ressources for the russian to use, and since that they are not even 100 000 peoples living in the north of canada, they are not manny road and a lot of thic forest and hard terrain that no vehicule can travel on.

@ben tremblay - all they have to do is conquer Toronto and Vancouver. Quebec will surrender and immediately make massive demands of their new 'overlords' and be in continuous revolt forever when Moscow doesn't make French the official language of Russia.....Toronto will surrender in about 30 minutes and Vancouver....well BC is a hard one to call. British Colombians are ... different.....Albertans will make a lot of noise but Calgary and Edmonton will surrender as soon as the Russians promise to force oil pipelines through BC.. It's all moot as the US would never allow anyone other than themselves to own Canada....Canadians in general are patriotic but our armed forces are no longer the hard bodied farmers and loggers of WWI and WWII, we are soft. If 50,000 Russian shock troops with equipment appeared out of containers in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver they'd own the place in a week without US involvement. Northern Canada requires Southern supplies in medicine etc so if you control the major Southern cities you can take the North at your leisure....

@Jack Ripper It's hilarious how terrible your understanding of reality is. Every time social progress occurred, conservatives stood in the way of it. Conservatives supported slavery, conservatives made up the KKK, conservatives were against the Civil Rights movement, conservatives were against gay marriage. The one constant in US history is that conservatives have constantly stood in the way of making the country a better place. Also you're an idiot if you're comparing the modern democrats with the old democratic part, it shows how little you know about US history, even a Canadian knows more about your history than you do. Look up the party switch, it'll show you how dumb what you're saying is. The American founding fathers themselves were far left for their time, the anti monarchy and liberal views were radically left wing. Do you know who disagreed with the American Revolution? It was Conservatives. The only role conservatism has played in American history is to be on the wrong side every time. And just like in the past, you and your fellow idiot conservatives will be on the losing side of history once again. History looks kindly on revolutionary thinkers, and none of them were conservative. Conservatism is ideologically opposed to progress. Conservatives are fated to be the losers of history, they always have been and always will be.
