The killer combo for me would be a ZV-E1 for A-Roll and the A7CR for B-Roll and photos - assuming it can do 4K-60 at least :) - I really don't like large camera bodies. Apparently the paint rubbing off is a problem for larger bodies too, happens on the Sony A1 too, a lot of complaints about that.

Full frame is great, but I’m always using APSC lenses on it. I just tried Signa 18-50 on ZVE1. Hardly any vignette. I do believe APSC lenses on full frame look slightly better than on an APSC body, at least for video. Like the low light performance on ZVE1 shines through even with the crop lens.

for video maybe, for photo you are currently downgrading on A7 IV from 24mp (aps-c) to 16mp (crop mode) UNLESS you get the A7 R5

Yeah, I feel you on that. Some lenses I like them as APS-C like my 35mm f1.8 lens, I'm just so in love with the quality of that lens and it's only about a 1.2x crop slightly to get rid the vignette if just using the base Standard stabe. Vlogging wise, it's just really hard to beat some of those super wide APS-C lenses.

@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Eh, it's not that you may be wrong, I just know history has shown sometimes that what's said of why something on a sensor "can't be done" doesn't add up a couple of camera releases later, and the issues magically disappears with virtually no changes. The A74 is pretty dope, and I'm hoping that crop issue that existed on that camera is resolved in the A7C cameras and any others that may use this sensor moving forward.

Well, I've just set aside the money for the A6700 but I felt something else is coming this fall.. Been shooting photos with a trusty A7III and it's still doing a great job. SO if the new A7CII would get everything that A6700 has plus full frame sensor of 33MP, I'm good. Actually, the only thing preventing me from pulling the trigger with the A6700 is if the Auto Framing works when HDMI is used, in a livestream for example. Since I'm doing guitar playing related stuff, a nice wide angle shot where I can move sideways a little while explaining/showing stuff, would be fantastic. I can wait until end August to check if anything shows up from Sony 🙂 Great video Diana!

Great discussion as always! My ‘hope’ is that the A7cII is smaller and lighter…whole point of that camera in the first place. Otherwise lots of other great FF choices, like A74 or the Panny S5ii that work well, albeit not as much fun as small cameras can be. My ‘guess’ is that is will become more brick like and heavier. About 500 grams is the max IMO, plus one or two lenses for a total kit of around 1kg so that it can used for travel, longer hikes etc. where both size and weight are key. Hard to do with a FF, but small APSC and MFT options though. Not technically a KZbin camera I guess in that case, but there are those of us who would like one for both. The A7C was close and it was positioned as small and convenient.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Thanks Gordon! I'm 100% on board with it being lighter but something I've seen recently is that apparently some camera testers say it feels good in the hand but close to an FX3's feel. So, that's what makes me think the camera may be a bit dense. I'm hoping they find a happy medium. Totally get where you're coming from with the on the go type experience. I think a "KZbin camera" is just a good all arounder these days because creators do some of everything, we just don't want multiple "big" cameras for such slight differences. If the weight is manageable, I think it'll be okay. I hope anyway lol Loved your insights!

@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Hmm..would it through? It just always seems like folks in the Leica market have a different end goal than specs alone, and I can imagine the shooting experience is very different. I'm curious if that will be a thing for this camera though, it'd be interesting. I think whatever the price, it's gotta find a sweet spot where it still feels like a great buy for creators. Seems $2k is the new $1k in the camera space so we'll see. I'm sure it'll at least be in the $2k to $2300 range, but they surprised everyone with the FX30's price when it came out, maybe the base model A7C will have a sticker shock as well, but a positive one. Here's hoping!

lol Well we shall see what else comes out, but I think the only other new cameras coming are the A9. But considering none of the other higher-end Sony's are getting new feature updates, I know some have posted online they're hesitant to even buy the higher-end "flagship" cameras, so it's gotta really bring it to change their minds. Man, the ZV-1F was not a great idea lol Precisely why I never even brought it up on the channel because that contrast detection AF is NOT where it's at. I actually asked Sony to test it, and they sent it to me, but that camera never made it to the channel because...for what lol My suspicions were as I thought, it's not ideal for the folks over here and if a camera doesn't have reliable AF it's irrelevant. Now, it's always somebody out there that will enjoy but it wasn't worth it in my opinion lol Every release isn't a good release. I'm glad to hear you're really enjoying the a6700! ZV-E1 took decent pictures but I tend to crop my images. I also haven't had any overheating issues with my ZV-E1 but it has started to freeze up on me from time to time. I may sound dumb, but I read that the a7iv and a7rV crops in on 4k60 due to down sampling from a 6k and 8k sensor and some other technical detail.

And that 61MP sensor is like 6 years old at this point so is it really worth it? I guess it all depends on the price. I'm guessing A7Cii is $2,200 and A7CR is $3,200.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Shots fired! lol I don't blame them for not putting a white silicone grip on the camera. I'd be mortified if it turned yellow after a couple of months, and they probably preferred to avoid that scenario, lol I think it's better than you might think because for someone who is used to HiRes shots already and that workflow, they may want to travel or just be on the go and not lug around a camera pushing 2 pounds versus maybe half of that and still get similar results to their work. It puts me in the mindset of how heavy top of the line laptops were around 2006, they were TANKS lol Imagine if they had released something like the M2 Macbook Air or M2 Tablets that are coming out today - it'd be a huge deal. That's how I see this being, the power of the main camera body but maybe cutting down your carry weight by half. As far as the sensor, who knows. How old a sensor is may not matter if they still haven't maxed it capabilities and I'm not sure how photographers care about that since photo tech hasn't really changed that much. You get better AF, faster read speeds, less rolling shutter in the new models, but what else is there really? Only someone in that space can really say what they care about or how they're using it. I think overall, even for those non-pro shooters, some people may just like to have that much resolution on the go.
