Could've Been The Biggest Latino Group Ever! What Happened To TERROR SQUAD?

Why didn’t Terror Squad have more success during the early 2000s. What happened? Fat Joe began to have success in the industry with 8 years under his belt before founding Terror Squad. He was the most successful latino rapper in rap at the time, until Big Pun jumped on the scene. Pun’s first album went platinum, making him the first latino rapper to do so. Joe also had a gold album the same year. Outside of that early on (later Remy and Khaled) they didn’t have, or push other talent, so after Pun passed away, the group crumbled. A group like terror Squad were a collection of artist that didn’t organically come together, instead you had two dominant figure heads, Fat Joe and Big Pun that came together really to work with each other and so happened to have their own artist they brought with them that moved as a put together unit, similar to State Property of Roc a Fella. Another issue the group were facing was the elephant in the hip hop room that they were latino predominantly, with the exception of “prospect” aka sleepy thug who was half black. It’s not often, especially in the late 90s you saw successful latino groups, so Terror Squad had their work cut out for them, but also a unique opportunity to be the first to do it. By all accounts they did do it, and had some success. Mostly they had huge potential to capitalize on both the black and Hispanic communities had all things go right. Instead their run was short and they quickly fizzled out for these 3 reasons. Let’s talk about it. Make sure you like, subscribe and turn on all notifications so you don’t miss anything. R.I.P BIG Pun.

It's unbelievable what has become of Terror Squad. From Pun passing(R.I.P) to Fat Joe and Cuban Link's long time ongoing beef, to the group squandering a chance to be the best, or only latino led group to have the success they were having. I really think with Pun still alive, they would've been one of the best groups of all time regardless of race. Did Fat Joe run them into the ground after?

Well technically most of Them was Pun's proteges ...not Fat Joe...Full of Clips Crew...Terror Squad was actually the South Bronx crew Fat Joe was a member of ...that was lead by his big homie Tony Montana( alias, not real name) who got murdered...I think Nas has referenced him in songs...so he must have been a Heavyweight on the streets but anyway, Pun was the anchor...even Joe said that...he was sick with the pen and would make everybody's verses sound tighter...he also made Joe, Triple Seis, Shorty Prospect , and Cuban Link step their game up...Cuban had bars and charisma but he crossed Joe...Remy Ma benefited and that is why she got a career ...with some hits under her belt and the rest ...did not as a solo artists!

I'm happy to see more people of color in the gym, working out- both men and women. In the 1990s, people thought I either just got out of prison or the military because I worked out and looked diesel. It was hard to find a gym in the hood or urban areas (except for Boxing gyms). There was Bally's and Jack La'Lanes, and that was it. Now you have fitness franchises everywhere. Pun dying was the nail in the coffin. When Terror Squad lost their main event guy, the other guys in the group including Fat Joe, didn't have the charisma or star appeal to carry the group. I can say that same for Tha Outlawz when Pac died.

This is why it's important to have more than one star on your team. You have to have a few talented member so if one passes away or gets locked up, the others can carry the torch. If Pun didnt pass away they still didnt have no direction in developing their young artists... Fat Joe was always about the money never about craft that Big pun was trying do during his time in the terror squad.. I remember living in the Bronx and seeing Big pun driving his S500 looking for inspiration and as for talent around hood... I never seen or heard anything of Fat Joe that didnt benefit anyone but himself.. Pure example look at the Vensus (fat joe vs Ja rule) fat joe didnt have no feature with no terror squad artist/artists that didnt come before remy or dj Khaled! I realize an artist you have to look out for yourself but you cant call yourself a "BOSS" if you only making money for your own label.. Big Pun show that if you put some of people on and develop them would be beneficial down the road like Triple Seis and prospect.

But to Fat Joe's credit he did try to put Terror Squad on the map with the True Story album. But Tbh aside from Remy Ma only Cuban Link and Tony Sunshine really stood out from the Terror Squad group imo

The beef between Big Pun & Jay-Z would've been a great battle if he were alive as Big Pun was dissing Jay-Z then and their both top lyricist. Beanie Sigel probably would've jumped in and beefed with Big Pun as he went at anyone Jay-Z was beefing with at the time. Big Pun & Beanie Sigel are both lyrical and street dudes, so that would've been crazy and imagine how wild the beef with 50 Cent & Fat Joe would've been if Big Pun was alive. It probably would've started sooner since Big Pun was already beefing with 50 Cent after what he said about him on How To Rob and then Big Pun dissed him on My Turn. If G-Unit & Terror Squad with Big Pun had clashed with each other, it would've gone down in the streets foreal
@camronshean1758
@camronshean1758 2 жыл бұрын
@Biz Ness He didn't want it with Jadakiss & Styles P either that's why Beanie Sigel jumped in and Beanie Sigel most likely would have done the same and gone against Big Pun too
@camronshean1758
@camronshean1758 2 жыл бұрын
@Biz Ness I don't know, Beanie Sigel was able to go lyrically on par with Jadakiss who's one of the best lyricist ever and people were even saying Beanie Sigel was better than Jay-Z at the time. Beanie Sigel was the street edge for Roc-A-Fella, he was about it foreal. It would've been serious if Beanie Sigel came across Styles P or Sheek Louch at the time they were beefing cause they were for it too. So who knows how a beef with Big Pun would've been cause neither would be playing around

@Biz Ness Jay-Z did have all of State Property and don't forget Memphis Bleek was about it too even tho most people don't think so. Jay-Z might've responded if Big Pun was alive as he passed away before he really went at Jay-Z on records
@camronshean1758
@camronshean1758 2 жыл бұрын
@Biz Ness Not way before he passed. Big Pun dissed Jay-Z on the song Rudeboy Salute from the Terror Sqaud album called The Album released in September 1999 and in an interview. Big Pun then passed away in February 2000 and on his Yeeeah Baby album that came out in April 2000 Big Pun dissed Jay-Z on the song 100%. Big Pun had passed before it really went anywhere

@@ghostduster1 I feel you on the wife beating. But waking his kids up to box isn't really bad. He taught them how to fight and defend themselves and each other. The girl was the toughest one lol. And it wasn't always at 2 am. It was whenever they cried over something or got into it with their siblings. He made them box it out which is a good outlet. In the documentary they say pun had real bad anger problems as a kid and he didn't have an outlet for it so he made sure his kids did so they wouldn't end up like him and I truly respect that.

Shits simple maths : *FAT JOE* fuxked with *BIG PUN* and *BIG PUN* fuxked with *FAT JOE* heavy. *Joe* would have and did whatever Big Pun wanted, so once Joe signed Pun, Pun asked Joe to put his homiez on and Joe did so. Joe didn't really fuxk with Cuban Link like that from the beginning but because Cuban was Puns homie, by default it meant he was the homie to Joe and Joe was cool with it. Once Pun died, Joe didn't really need to be around Cuban Links and as time went on, they separated. No man on this earth owes you anything and Cuban Links feels as if Joe owes him something but in actuality, Joe owes him nothing.
