Such passion and desire, how can it be lost in three years? I wonder. Anne was gorgeous that's why she caught Henry's eye, why didn't he give her time to have more children. I am sure male heir would have followed eventually. She was quite young.

Desperate men do awful, desperate things. And I agree, he gave Catherine 26 years. So much happened in those three years, you'd think it was longer than that.

It wqs the charge of treason, she wanted to promote free helthcare and jobs for the poor, but that would ofc cost much muney so cromwell set up the adultery and treason and other charges (fast)

She was 35 years old and had already had multiple miscarriages along with the one successful birth. That is not “quite young” for motherhood during the 1500’s when the average age for giving birth was much younger than it is today, as well as a persons life expectancy. She was just about over the hill. And three years was only the length of time they were officially married, but there were many years prior to this, as well. Her time in France during her formative years caused her to be more outspoken than was expected from 16th century English woman. It seems Henry was turned on by this early on, but then tired of it as she interjected more and more. That outspokenness caused her to say things she definitely shouldn’t have and make powerful enemies at court. The failure to birth a boy by that time probably wasn’t the end all be all, but it was what made her vulnerable to those enemies when the opportunity arose. Once those rumors were started and the slightest bit of evidence was found in support, at that particular time, it was all over. Had something like that come up just a year or so earlier it wouldn’t have been acted upon the way it was by Cromwell. We know that just weeks before her downfall Henry presented her proudly to the Spanish ambassador who had not yet acknowledged her as queen, but which forced him to then do so. That tells us his change in heart and final decision to be done with her happened rather suddenly. It didn’t help that Jane Seymour was Henry’s new lover and she happened to be the exact opposite of Anne, as in more of a traditional proper English woman without the French influence, which is what Henry now wanted. I think it was just a perfect storm of many things happening at just the right time and all very suddenly, rather than the simple “she didn’t have a boy so Henry killed her” explanation. I also think Henry honestly believed that she had been adulterous to some extent, not to the extent she was accused, but any would’ve been enough.

Anne and Henry were a "thing" for several years. She didn't birth a son but Henry was very proud of his daughter Elizabeth...its a common misconception that he didn't love his daughters. He adored them both, yes he wanted a son but girls were valued too. Henry wanted many children, he really didn't care how many girls or boys he had, just that he needed at least one boy, which is understandable. Anne was getting old,...he chased her all through her 20s, by the time she was in her 30s and still didnt produce a boy, Henry needed a way to get another legit heir so...off with her head. As peasants we can't really wrap our heads around their story. Our dynasties won't collapse and cause civil wars for 100 years because we didn't have male children. Different time, different mentality.

@@desirewhitefire that’s a good point. I think many people nowadays think of this whole Henry and Anne affair and naturally see it as Henry wanting a boy and a successor strictly for selfish personal reasons, and although this was the case to some extent, there was a lot more to it. It was his legacy, and more importantly the Tudor legacy that depended on it, and possibly even England itself. At that time the idea of a woman ruler wasn’t even fathomable so it would have been expected that a civil war could break out if there was no successor. At that time that could have meant being conquered by a rival European power who saw England as vulnerable. He could have just converted the country to Muslim and set himself up a nice harem to solve this problem 😂

Merci Clara ! Gros bisous ❤️💛🌻

He was a narcissist. The amount of women falling into the delusional possibility of true love between them is astounding. Everything was magnetic when they were doing it her way… before she gave in to his ego…
