I’d like to see you build a car in the offseason. From start to finish with explaining what your doing and why. I’d also like you to explain setups for different tracks in different conditions with the newly built car. Also like to see you race the newly built car this up coming season. Just a suggestion. Thanks Billy

I am in the middle of a binge of your videos to catch up (just stumbled on your channel a week or two ago) and it's usually what I watch while working. Jerry saying "I thought I was retired, but I think it's called retarded." Floored me. I had to stop to laugh so I didn't miss the rest of the video.

Tell Maxim I'm considered BIG in Japan and consume a lot of IC Light! Wonder what car I'd get? Alan Cole was probably the tallest guy I raced with in the day. I remember winning a 410 feature at Clinton County and Alan had a ride in a ARDC midget that particular night. I was walking back from the interview and saw Alan sitting in the staging area. I walked up and looked in and ask him how he fit in that thing? He just threw his hands up! Bret Knable drove a micro and he was probably taller than Alan! Somehow you just make it work. Good times!!

I recently sat in a tallboy Maxim, and I was still hanging out the top. Without a helmet. I am 6ft 1 and 15 stone. I run a classic [Australian] Super mod. More room though there is still a halo bar over the top. It must be a limo at 90". Knowing a driver who got serious head injuries in a midget so many of these cars are simply too small. And he was a skinny 6 footer. I remember a decade or so again the 'hot trick' was pins for the shocks then held on with R clips. Which was total bullshit as the shocks need to be bolted on firm

So Billy, I am curious. I've been super interested in Sprint cars for years and watch a ton of your content. However, I dont know everything there is to know about them. So my question is, what about a Halo? Are you able to still run a winged sprint car with a halo welded on? Im sure rules would come into play, but around here in New Mexico, I see some cars with them, some cars without. I guess in my head i always figured it was a personal preference but when it comes to talking about the taller chassis, is that something you could do in a standard chassis to give you that much extra room? I'm really just curious honestly. Keep up the good videos!

Are Maxims tig welded? I agree with the other folks here, great content and great camera work, Billy! WillyB
@jayss10 Жыл бұрын
The question shouldn't be is the chassis TIG, MIG, or stick welded. The real question should be is the welding being done by a person that is certified and are chassis welds occasionally being tested to make sure you have full penetration. That's the real question you should be asking
@1776vtgmb Жыл бұрын
@@jayss10 You're right. Are they certificated and is the steel tested? Does it come from china? Stress relieved? etc.

Surprised no talk about difference between Standard, Mid and Big Max. Although It didn't look like there was a Big Max delivered.
@HillBrosRacing Жыл бұрын
I think the taller cars run a bit tighter. I run a basic Maxim raised rail, I feel it runs a bit a more free and forgiving. It’s 87/40. I ran a 87/41 for a few races and felt it was tight also, but really comfortable on dry slick.
@billydietrich Жыл бұрын
You are correct, no big max in this order. My bad. The tall car is like a mid max but taller. I really wanted to show the option with room. We get a lot of inquiries about the driver not having enough room and we see drivers in cars with their head to close to top of cage.
@Corky3D Жыл бұрын
@@billydietrich Oh, you're fine. I know the differences on the cars, just thought it would be a good topic to talk about and you'd be a good person to talk about that topic with you being a dealer and everything. I agree with there's a lot of people that are probably to close to top of the cars. I was always lucky being shorter, so I always had pretty decent head room in standard non wedge cars. Although I preferred the taller cars, due to having even more head clearance or "buffer" room.
