Also as an established traffic management road designer guy I think we need to build a double loop off the freeway to get onto the overpass into the city

In your professional opinion should I also get a hotwheels booster and put it at the start of the double loop to give the cars more speed and move traffic along faster?

Great video comrade. I feel like the most interesting outcome for the cuba trip is no deal being reached, as I feel that it opens up the most amount of possible alternate history scenarios.

Thank you comrade. It definitely has some wild possibilities, and would make a lot of sense given the position the two nation-states are in and their histories up until this point and the nature of the ongoing cold war.

Maybe it's a bit silly but what about Zhukovgrad as the city name For the trade deal i think the historical one Is better since both countries can mutually benefit from it
@ion-95
@ion-95 Жыл бұрын
Zhukovgrad is a great name suggestion! Zhukov's brilliance in the war deserved a city be named after him! Perhaps he could even be invited to the city's unveiling? I've seen someone else also suggest the mutual deal as well, it does provide the best opportunity for the two countries to cooperate with one another.

As for the City name, I'd like to suggest Октябрьский город (Oktyabr'skiy gorod, October City). Keeping in spirit with the Revolution and general Propaganda/Prestige of the time.

On the topic of transportation philosophy in USSR, i beleive the necessity matched the ideology. It's better for the city inhabitants if they can get to work or buy groceries without needing to drive or take public transport at all. In 20s and 30s there were even city block sized living complexes ("House-commune") merging appartaments, workplaces and many necessary services like shops, kindergardens, even hospitals. In many cases everything was connected with internal walkways so residents didn't even need to go outside. That idea got toned down later but the key concept of easy access remained in the microdistrict planning.
@ion-95
@ion-95 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the soviet city planning was insanely ahead of its time and was very well intertwined with the ideology of communist ideas of equal access and dignity of life for all. I'm not sure on the whole internal walkways being so prevalent though I can imagine it'd be so in colder regions of the USSR for sure! After Stalin a lot of the communist ideology especially in planning cities was eroded and changed in favor of liberalizing the economy and lifestyle, like the focus on "individual luxuries" rather than communal luxuries. Promoting car sales and building more and more car infrastructure, less focus on theaters and auditoriums and more on television sets, etc.
@vantuz8264
@vantuz8264 Жыл бұрын
@@ion-95 Internal walkways weren't prevalent simply because not every new house was a house-commune. Additionally they were built individually and every architect had his own ideas. Actually, house-communes started to fall out of favour long before Khrushchev. In 1930 during the 17th Party Congress it was decided that such houses present people with too sudden / radical change towards collectivist lifestyle (for example how appartaments there often lacked private kitchens). Still, i think the experiment was very interesting and influential.
@ion-95
@ion-95 Жыл бұрын
@@vantuz8264 that's a shame really, communal lifestyle and habitation should have been more prominent. But I can understand the change, social pressures don't change until generations.

Great video! I'm excited to see the series continue. I'd actually also like to play along a bit, so an explanation of what you're doing and why you're doing it would be awesome. Does the road bridge intersection serve a technical purpose, or is it just for the aesthetics? For the deals, amongst the ones you listed I favour the mutual (historical) deal most as it's more in line with what the USSR would do. Like you say in the other comments, there're still interesting ways of how it could end up going. Not on your list however is a 'benevolent' deal, that more favours Cuba's growth. Maybe this deal comes with more 'advisors' that guarantee long-term Soviet influence. Such benevolent and rapid development of Cuba could eventually set it up as the equivalent of Taiwan in the Caribbean to act as an island fortress that spreads communism to central and south America via Che Guevara's adventures.
@ion-95
@ion-95 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Anthony, I've already begun working on the next video and have finalised the choice made though you won't be disappointed I'm sure. I haven't recorded the Voice Over yet so I'll definitely do more explaining. With the bridge it is aesthetic but does serve a major purpose, it allows traffic to flow over the highway as I'm planning to build on both sides of the highway. It also means that the highway onramps and offramps don't direct traffic into any intersections.

Enjoyed the time lapse, just wish I had a little more explanation on what was being built where. Thanks for the vid though! Oh, and I'd vote on the no deal as well just for a chance at a broader alternate timeline.

Hi! I'm a little late to the (Communist) Party, but i really like where this series is going. Recently started playing the 1.0 version and i find the realistic mode captivating to say the least. I can obviously see from your city planning that i need to focus more on planning the infrastructure ahead if i want my Republic be as prosperous as yours 😅 In my game i tend to focus too much on collecting resources and making profit rather than making the city functional and that's why my people betray my regime and escape to the West 😅 I'll be watching this series and take notes for my own game! 😁

How about Ural-Yug? I believe it could be roughly translated into 'Ural-South'. I don't have any great insight as to naming conventions in the former USSR, but as the intro suggested a city south og the Urals, in the old nomadic tribes area, I do believe the name could fit old naming traditions as Soviet thinking somewhat. Regarding the deals, I would acctuly prefer the historical option, as the mutual beneficial deal gives loads of options for how the future could work out. Maybe USSR cant deliver the industrial capacity or vice-versa on natural ressources. Maybe the US feels threthend by a strong industrial Cuba, the deal evolves into a militarty exhange... yeah loads of possibilities.
@ion-95

In case it's not too late to comment yet, I'd like to express myself in favor of the exploitative deal. Keeping Cuba under our thumb, wrapped tightly in our bloc, I see it as a more beneficial solution for us, and, even though it's worse for Cuba, I do think it was said that overall the deal is better than any US or IMF deal. This will ensure that Cuba stays in line with us, so long our deal is in fact better than the alternatives.

I don't agree with putting universities in prime real-estate areas. The universities only needs to be within range of residential areas. Also industrial size waste containers can hold more waste. That means less trips for garbage trucks. Great looking city. Iam skill learning lol
@ion-95
@ion-95 11 ай бұрын
The reason for using small containers is because small container trucks can do multiple locations in one trip rather than the large one doing 1 per trip. I'm also not building this city to be perfect, it's supposed to be aesthetically pleasing to look at, that's why I built the university there.
