@@Ultimate-roofing-square. Well I'll be totally honest with you, I had mixed reservations mainly because I have other tools I use to do the job. What a cracking invention, no need to flip the square when marking plumb and seat cuts as you do for the Stanley quick square (looks a lot sturdier too) and the depth for the birdsmouth is set too. Clearly explains what he's doing throughout the video, in my opinion one of the best I have seen on roofing and that's from someone who is doing this type of work on a weekly basis. Great job👍

Great video and the Gentleman explained he’s square really well. I’m not sure if the square is aimed at the occasional roofer or the pro roofers. I’ve never been a fan of moving parts when it comes to roofing they tend to move when dropped. I don’t understand he’s comment on cutting a pattern rafter, this I can assure all your budding roofers is the most fail safe way of cutting any roof. Maybe being older a roofing or speed square and a roofing ready reckoned does all the roofers I know well. I’m not knocking he’s square but it just looks a bit bulky to me.

I don't think it matters how you do it so long as it works and you are happy. Daniel wanted to makes something that saved him having to place a pattern on another rafter. A lot of them are 6 x 2 and wet and you have to go to the top end and line it up then back to the bottom end and sometimes they are warped. It is true that most people do it that way but that is no reason why people should not explore alternatives.

I note you are using tanalised timber for the roof construction, in my day we just used kiln dried timber, does the tanalised move much being quite a wet wood? I am building a large greenhouse and using kiln dried, and painting the timber because it is on show having glass everywhere. By the way thank you for the speedy delivery of my new roof square, I have to say it is really nice to see some solid english made engineering behind it, I can imagine it will last me and my son a lifetime. A great invention thank you.

The tanalised timbers certainly do seem to move, and quite often it turns up curved. Thanks for buying one, I hope it serves you well. 🙏

Brilliant video and brilliant roofing square! When we used to cut valley rafters with the 2 cuts at the bottom, we used to set the saw on the bevel to the correct angle and the angle left or right to the correct angle and measure slight longer than the length of the rafter required and make a cut. With this way you make one cut and have a piece of timber with a bevel for each valley side with one compound bevel cut then measure up for the plum cut. This might not make sense at all but hopefully someone gets it haha.

Yes that’s what I done. Two splay cuts done in one go. Then just put the plumb cut on the other end which is a square cut. 👍. Glad you like the video.

That is a lovely tool. I know all can be done with a framing square but for ease of use and setting up; fantastic. This building may not be the best to explain because of multiple angles but it did show the reality of the squareness of buildings and the versatility of your tool. It is nice and big too, long enough for large timbers . Excellent

Thanks. The square was designed so it will work on a deep rafter and big birdsmouth, so covers most situations.
