Another fantastic episode. I took part in the filming of this, the time and effort that goes into making this programs is amazing. The guys involved are 3 of the nicest chaps you could ever hope to meet. Down to earth, friendly and great fun to work with. All the lads and lady's who took part gave it their all. I was fighting along side the foot sloggers in King Harrold's shield wall and I could see the effort that they put into getting the out fits and weapons and making it all as accurate as possible, even going as far as barking out commands in Anglo Saxon old English. With regards to the cavalry, I know they put in hour upon hour of practicing for every event or film they take part. A lot of the 'uniforms' are hand made. All of the effort on every ones part (I can only imagine just how much editing/cutting, working on scripts etc go into each episode but I bet its a lot of work) is so worth it when the episodes turn out so brilliantly.

Hi! I was one of the chaps who took part in the Battle of Hastings events in 2016 & 2017, and I love your approach to this subject and the use of reenactment alongside it! It is a hobby I truly wish I kept up, but I have fond memories I keep with me to this day. It was great seeing the work you put into it, and the relationships you must have formed with members of these groups! We're a fairly small hobby in the UK with a lot of pressures that make it harder, but this video (and others you have done as I'm currently deep-diving your channel) will help a lot. @smal750Ай бұрын

@charitysheppard4549Ай бұрын
Actually, the name "Eng-land" shortened from "Anglo-land" came into common use in the 10th century. England was most certainly known as such by 1066. We know this from several historical resources. In the early 11th century Aethelweard of Wessex refers to the Kingdom of England as a cohesive community bound together by King, laws, language, customs, cultures and ethnic identity. He notes it is not known as "Britannia" anymore. Additionally, a Norman historian, William of Poitiers, writing in about 1070 also pointed out that “the more ancient name of England was Britannia.”

Two things. 1. The reason why William's force is so big is that other lords from other places in Europe joined him after the Pope gave William a blessing & it essentially became a small crusade of sorts. 2. Packing wounds with grass fed horse manure sounds legit. It would help stop the bleeding and the active bacteria in the manure would likely prevent other bacteria from infecting the wound. There’s a lot of nitrogen which promotes wound healing. Major risk is of course tetanus but you already have that risk from the spear that stabbed you.

The only prisoners that were taken were because the Carthaginian mercenaries arms grew tired to swing their weapons so out of practicality they allowed the romans to become prisoners. @ How is it “copium”, when I was just stating facts? So dial it back a bit yeah? I don’t remember insulting your country. And they absolutely did not “dog walk” the English, otherwise the war would not have lasted for 100 years, mate! 😂 The English won more battles than France too, despite the latter having the home advantage, more manpower, immediate access to reinforcements when there’s say, a dysentery outbreak, for example. Even our king Henry V died in France from this disease during the war.
