My son had a tounge tie, the paediatrician said its nothing. It was a nightmare to feed him. It was eventually cut by a specialist. It was a procedure that lasted 10 seconds. I fed him straight after, and there was an instantaneous change in the way he suckled. Also be aware if it's not cut it can cause speech impediments such as l's are replaced w sounds. This happened to my nephew. So he would say hewow instead of hello.
