Councillor Ainslie thanks for making this budget available online and all your work in the community. Mayor Chow you talk about making Toronto more affordable however you are slapping homeowners with a 10.65% tax increase (6.9% increase for property taxes and 3.75% for water/garbage). This is not making it more affordable for property owners, renters, and seniors on fixed incomes. Please use some common sense policies to tighten up the budget. For example libraries do not need to be open 7 days a week. In fact since we have a housing crisis, make some of the libraries homeless shelters or temporary housing. This is a better use since few people read books anymore which is their intended purpose. I also agree with the caller who asked why homeowners are bearing the cost of the TTC increase and freezing fares. It is not fair that TTC users don't pay any increase in the budget but seniors and those that don't use it have to pay.
