Great to see you on this channel , what a fun surprise. I know...you can use books for anything, everyone seems to love them, but some new counselors just don't know about them if they don't have experience with kids. xo

Hi, thank you for your helpful videos and ideas, they are much appreciated. Can you please advise on how to work with male teenagers 15yrs above; who don't open up much and find it difficult to explain how they are feeling. Thanks in advance x

first, watch my video on How To Help Teens Actually Like Therapy. Those are the best general tips I have. With Male Teenagers, I engage them in dialogue about what they like. if they are into wrestling, I learn all about wrestling. If they are a videogamer, I learn all about their games. I provide paper and drawing tools so they can draw or doodle while we talk about family or hard stuff. Quenby

Hi,thanks a lot, your channels are so helpful. But I wonder does it apply to teens who do not like crafts and sort. In that case, what should we do then?Thanks before

Glad it was helpful! Thank you. I have yet to meet a teen who will not do any art or crafts or just use the art supplies i have laid out on the table. They may not call it "art" but they can't help but pick up the markers and doodle, or play with the stamps. Quenby

When they are making the bits for the book do you help them or talk to them , or make your own art?
@thegratefultherapist

I definitely talk to them while making the books and help them with whatever they need. That said it helps them if I am also doing a little something of my own. It seems to take the pressure off, esp with a shy or reluctant teen. I am attentive and my focus is on the teen, but i might be making something too. Thanks Quenby

In the end does the book stays with you or with the client ?
@thegratefultherapist

The Client gets to keep their own book. If for some reason they wanted to leave it with me, of course they can, but it is theirs to choose what they want to do with. 🌸🌷🌷 Quenby
