Best Buy is beyond shady. I would never recommend them for electronics. I had a keyboard once when I first started piano as a child and they promised tons on the warranty to my parents, we had to fix it like a year later and they couldn’t do anything they promised was covered so I don’t buy anything super expensive there

You should have spoken up for that couple. My husband and I are useless when it comes to tech stuff. We would have fallen for it, but would have appreciated someone speaking up. Recently, we almost got taken when getting me a new phone, but someone helped us. She saved me a lot. I went somewhere else for my phone. I hope everything is ok with your computer. ❤

There is literally a tech guy on the street next to me and he has fixed any problem my laptop has. You can really tell that fixing computers is more than likely more funds while he's retired because he gladly accepted 20 1 dollars bills with a $5 on top of it for a $25 job

Jordy, if Geek Squad told you the parts were around $100 all they did was to replace the screen. It's an easy job. I've done it 3 different times. Each and every time I did it was because I was careless with my laptop and physically broke the screen. Every time I replaced it there were no issues with it until I broke it again. And I learned how to do it watching youtube videos... If they're replacing your screen and charging you so very much to do it and can't even get it right the first time they just don't deserve your money.

I just looked that up and its a quote by Benjamin Franklin but the growing old part must have been added by my Grandfather. Anyway, the point is we are all going to get old, hopefully, which is why we should always help the elderly if we can. i called and set up an appointment with geek squad to get my laptop battery changed. Called, explained my issue, and set up an appointment a couple weeks out. Appointment rolls around, I show up and go to their counter. THEY TELL ME THEY DON'T DO BATTERY CHANGES!!!

It is horrible to see some companies ripping of people when you know that they are, they must know they are doing it but it is there Job. I guess in that situation you have to step back. That's there lesson to learn. I'm sure we all have been ripped of at one point in life but its up to everyone to be aware of it. That's what i had to learn. Obviously not only ‘old people’ play spider solitaire. I used to volunteer at a science center & we had laptops at different areas. After a bunch of PRE- schoolers left…they wiped out our data on 1 laptop & put in spider solitaire. Yeah, a kid under FIVE yo!

Geek squad is scammers apple auto updates to you apple account I can make a brand new laptop I buy look and everything the same including bookmarks just let it update it from the apple account backup. You probably have same thing on windows. Think about it if you get a new computer it will ask you if you want to use your backup to set up the computer

Geek Squad is such a rip-off, I learned the hard way long ago. You're better off taking your laptop to a local tech guy next time, who will charge way less and won't upsell you on unnecessary crap. There are also plenty of free tutorials on KZbin on how to do most (if not all) repairs on your computer.
