Honestly as a Polack it is so confusing to hear about American Christians fuming over evolution... I've never, not ONCE, heard ANYONE EVER question evolution despite coming from the poorest and therefore the most religious region of Poland (Podkarpacie). Like, not once. It was just treated as a discovery of God's plan. Never EVER have I heard that it's "all lies" and that "earth is actually 3000 years old" until I moved to UK and started using Internet a bit too much aka interacting with Americans... and it's still baffling to me how the most religious country in Europe sees dismissing evolution at the same level as claiming earth is flat, and yet people in US dismiss it while claiming USA is like the most advanced country on earth with the same breath.

I grew up Adventist. It’s just a church that worships on Saturday, encourages healthy living and eating usually through a vegetarian diet. The practice of Sabbath lasting Friday to Saturday and not using things like the TV or phone are pretty much faded out. Those are the only things that really separates it from the other sects of Christianity. The sheer coincidence of the Ant Hill and Peoples Temple spinning off from Adventist is likely due to the fact that it was a newer and alternative take on the faith. Sure, it’s all silly to devote your life to spooby ghost bois in the sky but at least we didn’t have to wear “sacred underwear” while me and the boys did wheelchair jousting during choir practice.
