The latest Countdown titles permitted on KZbin per copyright restrictions.
These opening titles - the show's tenth overall - were introduced at the beginning of Series 66, at which time Nick Hewer took over from Jeff Stelling as presenter. They remained as they were for just a year, before being modified slightly at the start of 2013.
This design apparently takes on a space theme, beginning with a revolving globe at the left of the shot that is made up of hundreds of letter and number tiles. A couple of seconds in, the globe explodes while a light flare - perhaps emulating an asteroid - circles around and collides with it. The light flare disappears from the shot, and the next ten seconds involve the abundance of separated tiles flying around the screen. The light flare suddenly returns, following its circular path, this time sucking all of the tiles in with it. This produces the layers of the Countdown clock, which then fades into the shot while counting down the thirty-second time limit. Following this, the camera slowly pans around the bottom of the clock for seven seconds, before swiftly moving to portray the whole face. The clock rotates, while the lineup of letter tiles spelling 'COUNTDOWN' appear and flip over to sit on top of the centre of the face. The sequence concludes with a flash of light behind the clock, and the titles fade into the shot of the studio.
