yeah, it only works if external opponents throwing a top attack

not exactly, there are 2 ways to parry, one of them parrying origin directions or parrying the external sides (which i don't suggest doing)

Then you parry the origin direction of that external attack, I %99 of the time try to parry origin directions, I don't care about the external indicator
