How does the rank system work in CS2? is it some rating based or similar to CSGO? Some videos I saw it displayed some numbers or something

So there are 2 different ranked game mode. Premier and Competitive. In Premier you have an overall rating. The map is decided through bans / pick. So you never know which map you're gonna play. Competitive you have an individual rank for each map. I have 1 star on Overpass but 3 star on Dust II. I can que multiple maps, just like the old CSGO.
