I believe it was a shitty move to just remove the old cs:go entirely, what if people want the assets for mods or to play old maps that aren’t on source 2, not to mention things like gmod that may require csgo content for certain addons. I might just be rambling about crap but that is a major reason for my aversion to cs2.

the reason csgo isn't around anymore is in the title of the video: it would be divisive to keep both. and the cs2 requirements are essentially negligible, source 2 is better optimized. "looks good" doesn't always equal "needs an expensive gaming pc", valve have always been really good at figuring this out

I think the issue is the CS community is overwhelmingly a hardcore community, and Valve has clearly prioritised the most 'important' players. The majority of CS players either just play comp (and even then it seems 50% just played Mirage or Dust 2 for the last decade), care about the esports stuff, or are skin traders. These are the big 3 groups, and it feels the casuals and more niche players got shafted. I'm a massive casual CS player, I throw on a video on my second monitor or a podcast and play this game as a fun way to turn my brain off and relax. I played a lot of Demolition, Arms Race, even some Retakes and Scoutsman. Now all that's gone. I also spent hundreds of hours playing on community maps with expert bots, since the tiny map pool is CSGO bored me to death (and somehow the sequel has an even smaller map pool; no Agency, Militia, Cobble, Train etc in Casual). Now all those workshop maps are unplayable, and even when I tried to play against bots I couldn't figure out where the bot difficulty button is. I was really looking forward to see what new stuff Valve added and how they improved things. The old tutorial, where you play as a CT getting briefed in a training course was such a cool idea, but although it was fine when the game first launched, CS players have become so good and so many advanced fundamentals have been discovered they really needed to expand on the- oh they just deleted it, and added a 'tutorial' to Dust 2... Maybe this will work for players coming from Valorant, but I don't see how it's very good for anyone completely new to this kind of game. I get it, they're going to keep updating and we should just 'hope' we see all the issues fixed and be patient, but I find that very hard when there's no roadmap or communication of any kind. There are players out there who dedicated themselves to Danger Zone, flying across the map with bump mines and mastering the gamemode; is their favourite mode ever coming back? Who knows? Did anyone know CSGO was a Mac game? That's how I first started playing it years back, since there were no other good shooters for Mac. Now CSGO is straight up deleted; can those Mac users still play their game? CSGO used to be a game that cost money, will any of them get refunded? I've heard very little about this but it's really baffling to me. What about the bhop and surf players? People competed for world records on CSGO surf maps, now CSGO is deleted are those records just locked in forever? Let me be clear, I appreciate the work Valve have put in and, technically speaking, this is a very impressive release. Remaking an entire game in a new engine is no easy feat, and the game feels pretty much exactly the same to me. As for the few changes they've made, refunding guns is great, clearing smokes is genius (although I've died to nades way more now since more people are buying them- this is a much more significant meta change than I think people realise), and the new visuals are beautiful, especially the water effects and the T side molotov; not to mention I can actually see enemies when often I'd get killed by people in dark corners a lot. On the other hand the new loadout system is like one step forward and two steps back. Letting me have both M4's available is great and it's what we've asked for for years, but it's come at the cost of a limited 15 gun pool. The amount of times I've been playing and gone 'I feel like using the Bizon' but I can't since it's not equipped, so I change my loadout; next game 'I feel like using the Negev', but I just swapped it out for the Bizon... The hardcore crowd have screamed a consistent 'but most of the guns suck anyway', which just seems like an excuse to soft-cut content (seriously just add a button to the menu that says 'view other guns', how does less options improve the game?), and even worse, they fail to realise may guns in CSGO were bad because Valve failed to buff and balance them. I have seen tons of discussions regarding the M249 and how to buff it, yet we had no changes; giving you an option to remove it from your loadout isn't a solution, it's a cop-out. I'm also dividded on the volumetric smokes; yes, they're cool, but they're a huge nerf to aggressive play. In CSGO I pushed smokes often, and since the smokes were always the same size you always knew exactly how far you'd be walking until you walked out the other side, while in CS2 the smoke can be longer or smaller depending on how many variables, and pushing through it can have you exiting way sooner or later than you expect. Players will have to adapt to this, and it will take a while. In conclusion, I've seen people compare this to the CSGO launch and how that game sucked at release, but these people fai to realise Valve left the community with options, allowing us to go back and continue playing the previous games. In this case, Valve has straight-up deleted CSGO, and personally I don't think we'd be seeing anywhere near as many complaints if players still had the option to play all the content in CSGO that has now been deleted. It really sucks that a huge part of gaming history has now been erased, and even if Valve intends for all CSGO content to be ported to CS2, we have no communication on how long this may take- hell, even if they gave us a deadline it's safe to say we wouldn't be able to trust it, given the 'summer' release they scheduled here. It's really sad CS2 got rushed out in such a barebones state, but there's nothing any of us can do about. Just got to reinstall Valorant and wait for Valve, I guess.

CS2 looks good but I don't get people who say that this is a good release. Half of the maps are missing, no unranked competitive, no danger zone, no arms race, no retake, no flying scoutsman, no demolition, their sub tick system has this issue where it forces you to keep walking even when you release the key (while you have 20-30 ping). I won't give up or hate this game, but pretending like this is not an issue, or even pretending like CS:GO was only for competitive and fun / casual modes and maps are not necessary is going to hurt the player base more than anything. Simply put, Valve needed more time to finish CS2, but with a release date set for themselves, they basically bit more than they can chew.

cs2 has 3 main problems 1. lag compensation being too generous which causes peekers advantage where people see u before u see them 2. optimization fps is unstable is certain situations for example when you shoot an enemy and they shoot back it feels like u lose half ur fps fps is also an issue in dm where u have too many people in same server 3. Inexistence of bob and righthand commands with default bob settings you feel like you're slower and while its a "cosmetic" issue, its still a big deal making people with thousands of hours playing with crap bob settings or using righthand after 10 years left-handed

we waited more than 10 years for basic fixes. valve goes off their own time schedule, no one asked for a full game port, since when did anyone ask for a game port? yeah having the "same game" and porting it to a "better" engine should be a 1-1 comparison, i didnt understand the extra added features that no one asked for. valve only cares about longevity, the longer they wait, the longer its gonna be another 10 years of pretty much nothing and they'll congratulate themselves for all the "work" that we didnt even ask for. valve isnt for the people anymore. @@jacobanaspurnama6434

What CS2 has, it's perfect. But there's a lot straight up not in this game. Which is a problem because Valve killed the old game to release this one for some reason. I honestly would've been fine if CSGO's servers were shutdown with the release of CS2 if they were separate entries (so long as CS2 released finished), but because they did this, it's going to be so annoying to go back and try and play CSGO on community servers and whatnot like all the old CS games.

Not to mention the vast amount of Valorant players torching the game just due to bias.
