These coffee makers last forever! I've owned two, the first one lasted TWENTY YEARS, the second one is STILL working after 18 years. Well worth every penny. When my current one dies, I'll get my last one, because I don't have twenty years left. I wish more companies would make quality products like this.

It would have hit 160 degrees if you would have put temperature gauge directly in the coffee pot. In the directions in the manual is actually says to put some hot water in your carafe and dump it before setting it under your coffee maker. Your cold coffee mug lowered your temperature 😊

I would think the coffee might cool 5 degrees as it pours into the cup. If you take the temp of the full pot it is probably at least 165 or more. Great demo I say. Thank you very much and HAPPY NEW YEAR. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

We've used these on and off since the 80's! Interesting tidbit is the models back then did not have the "on/off" switch (I like how you call it that) in the top tank. Instead, they included a separate plastic container with markings. As soon as you started pouring water into the unit it would start coming out. This probably caused a lot of coffee spills if other people were using your coffee maker, so then they added the additional switch so the water stays in the top until you close the flap (and no longer included the separate container). I liked having the separate container because you're not going to have hot coffee dripping into a container that had cold water in it... so the temp of the coffee won't get pulled down a few degrees by the cold pot. Even with my non-Bunn units, I still use my old plastic Bunn container to fill it instead of the pot itself (and often run the pot under hot water first), which makes a difference if you're only brewing a small pot of coffee.

Solid video. But for $100+ I don't like the sub-160 degree temp. I am interested what the temp of the slurry is on this, which I think is the crucial point in brewing. Also, a su-four minute brew time worries me. Is that enough time for good extraction?

I had one of these. It's fast because it constantly cycles the heating element on and off 24 hours a day to keep hot water available at all times. Just wanted to cover that again if folks aren't aware. In other words this coffee pot stays on and pulls electricity 24/7 to make quick brewing possible. Makes PERFECT sense in an office environment, just didn't like that fact for home use.

Do you have to fill the reservoir after every pot
@truckinman86
@truckinman86 5 ай бұрын
Only the top reservoir. Basically what happens is that once the lower reservoir has been filled (shown in the video), adding fresh water in the top reservoir pushes hot water out of the lower reservoir and that is what brews the coffee. The cold water that was just added doesn’t go immediately into the coffee but gets left in the lower reservoir to get heated to be used for the next round of coffee.

@@LRM5195 I used 5 tablespoons of coffee to 20 oz water. I googled the bun coffee maker and there’s a lot of information and BUNN itself has a lot of information. The steps he showed are absolutely 💯… the amount of water he showed stays in the machine BUT the amount of water you add each day to make your coffee is how much you’re going to get out that day so even though you put a lot of water in in the beginning to “season the coffee maker”, you’re gonna be brewing how much you put in the day you drink it…does that make sense? Hope all that helps you and maybe someone else! Cheers! ☕️ PS: The coffee was plenty HOT...I mean hot hot. I add heated frothed creamer to NOT bring down the temp.

I'm a one-cup-a-day coffee drinker. Bought the Bunn Speed Brew CSB2B model last week because that line of Bunn brewers is Made/Designed in the USA (I won't buy "sheet" from china, and long before covid). It's a great coffee maker, but unfortunately its design doesn't allow you to brew only 1 cup at a time. After the initial set up, you must add at least 4 cups of fresh water (as measured by the carafe) to get the machine going. It's a waste of coffee, but it does make a nice cup.

Different brew method and construction overall. The basic 'boil and spit' coffee maker combined the base heater and water heater as one. It uses a ball valve that you can hear clicking to draw the water and as it boils in the element the ball shuts and the pressure builds then spits into the top grounds. These have an internal tank which heat and maintain the water at 200°. The top has a valve which closes the tank so you can add the water up top. As you close the lid, it opens the tank and water flows as he explained. Anyways it's built different and in the US as well so more complex build but sturdy as well. Had a Keurig before but coffee was way to weak for me unless I went through 2-3 pods per mug for me. Technically these make coffee at the ideal temperature and implements the simplest method to achieve it hence the higher cost. Still not the highest like a Technivorm.

If you unplug it at night, then you need to let it warm up for 15 minutes in the morning just to start the process of making coffee. Who has that kind of time in the morning.
