It’s a defense mechanism. Depressed people want to make others laugh and be happy before themselves. It’s almost a way for them to vicariously live that happiness out through someone else. -a depressed person

I'm happy Brendan is giving props to the legends Misery Signals finally. If you like modern melodic hardcore and want to hear where a lot of its sensibilities come from listen to them. But really gotta give it up to the mighty Shai Hulud. All three bands are forces to be reckoned with.

“Modern Melodic Hardcore” You lost me at Title Fight. Ignite is a good example of the more punk rock stuff. It became a broad term like Metalcore with it (Melodic Hardcore) becoming more involved with metal recently. It gets confusing but the history is fun. Really we should all listen to Descendents and the Youth Crew boys Gorilla Biscuits (Extra points for Deathwish dudes Killing the Dream, single kick pedal Dbeats with screaming/yells🤘🏼) I probably missed a lot of bands because I’m not hardcore enough.

Yeah dude I feel ya. Back in the day around '05 or '06 all my friends and my guitarist were into Misery Signals. I went out and I bought the record that "changed the sound of hardcore. ("Of Malice And The Magnum Heart") when I played the record I liked it, but it's wasn't ground breaking. Them I saw some short documentary on the band and the back story of how them came together, and read the lyrics and I was hooked when I understand d how deep the bands goes. Now, I do think it is a timeless record for sure.
