Even if the seal is in between the casings, at times you can forcefully remove the old one with a seal pryer and use a large socket the size of the outer ring of the new seal. After u remove the old seal and clean the area, apply silicone on the edges of the new seal and slightly hammer/tap in the new seal. Older suzukis had this same issue and thats what we used to do to replace the seals without removing or splitting the cases.

That looks really good Adrian. Another great video. I'll out myself as the rider who got the rock. I've ridden 20,000kms on the bike, with a fair bit of it being off road (gravel, dirt). Never had any issues. I picked up the rock on a sealed road. Just plain bad luck I think.

I was looking for your third arm during welding: 1. hold the torch 2. hold the welding rod 3. hold the work - then I realized you just melted the aluminum to itself - pretty cool. Dual-sport / enduro light off-road riding could increase the chance of a rock getting in there.

Nice idea - but I'm a bit concerned you're not tightening those vital bolts to the correct torque! Those two hold the primary counter-shaft bearing in place and also add stiffness to the aluminium shell of the gearbox. The workshop manual has precise specifications for each one which you can't achieve using a ring-spanner.
@Siergiej.Motorv5 жыл бұрын
I do not see the reason for this. this protection will not affect the wear of the shaft seal. since it doesn’t close in any way the very place where the shaft rotates. even the opposite. the oil mist from the chain falling on the shaft and the boot prevented fine dust from getting inside, now this will be less.

Every image I see of the seal looks like it would just draw straight off the shaft. If it's simply a case of not being able to get a hold of it, a simple solution involves a couple of self tapping screws and a small drill bit.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff5 жыл бұрын
Pete D - your theory is “the norm” for most bikes. Unfortunately this isn’t the case for this bike (and other Honda’s I understand). There is an inside lip on the seal that fits into the cases.
@peted72955 жыл бұрын
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff I'd like to see one, while it's a real pain as regards replacement it may well be necessary to have the seal mechanically locked in place to prevent crankcase pressure blowing it out, being it's a relatively long stroke engine. Personally I'd prefer to see a circlip but probably due to cost implications it's been done this way. Regardless you've done a good job with the build.

If you have to replace the seal, replace for the SFK 34x62x8 CRW1 R, with this one, it's not necessary open the engine to do the job. It will be tough only to remove the old one 😉

I can’t imagine what kind of crap you’d have to ride thru to get rocks to find their way to the front sprocket. If you ride in situations that create opportunities for this to happen, you’ve got the wrong bike my friends. Even the biggest bulldozers can be broken fairly easily if you don’t use them as intended. Honda (and for that matter, most Japanese manufacturers) over engineer their products, but if you really want to cause damage to them, it can be done. Use your NC750X as if it was a trial bike and you’ll find out. On the other hand, use it according to what it was design for, mostly on road use with some light off road gravel or sand road and you’ll never see the end of it. There’s a guy here on KZbin, don’t remember his name, who has 160 000 kms done around Asia on his NC750X with no problem whatsoever. Only regular maintenance. Want to ride off road in deep crap or very muddy situation, get a dirt bike. That’s the beauty of motorcycles, there is one made for every occasion. Enjoy guys.
