Watching Moesha again when it came to Netflix, it made me remember how funny Kim Parker was and how she was actually the funniest character. Hence, her getting her own show with 5 seasons. The Parkers was and still is HILARIOUS, it was the perfect match with Monique!!! I don't know anyone who doesn't love the theme song -always singing along with it. I could watch it everyday along with Martin lol.

My biggest takeaway was the toxicity from lace front wigs and skin products (lightening) that adversely affected Countess and her self-esteem smh. We definitely need to have a more open discussion on the harmful products we put on her bodies for worldwide acceptance. Countess was / is beautiful just the way she was / is. There is no reason why black women should feel pressure to use toxic products just to feel accepted and beautiful smdh.

I grew up watching “MOESHA” and I STILL, watches “MOESHA”…. Countess Vaugh what made “MOESHA” funny. Her comedic timing was and still is funny, she WAS THE SHOW & the fans really enjoyed “KIM”! And if I’m honest: countess Vaugh & Shar Jackson both made the show interesting.. because once countess left, the writers/creators made shar “NIECY” funny & gave her more screen time… MOESHA was full of ups & downs, dealing with teenage issues & most of them were sadness… So to have “Kim” & “NIECY”, to break some of the sadness, with their comedic, was needed… I would love to see a reboot. A final ending, 8 episodes of a NEW season of “MOESHA” to close all lose ends! Who was pregnant? Where was Myles after all this time? Did MOESHA & Q get married & have kids? What’s going on with NIECY and her boyfriend? The one she met in college… NOT that dude who went off to the army! Are Dee& Frank still married? Did frank & dee ever have that baby, they always wanted? Does Myles have kids now? Did Kim ever find the man of her dreams? And what has Dorian been up to? LIKE SOOO MANY QUESTIONS, ONLY A REBOOT, COULD ANSWER! #MOESHA

Monica had completely different management and made a name for herself in a completely different way. When you are known for being a child who sings like an adult on Star Search that becomes _who you are._ Whereas in Monica's situation that was not the case so she was never pigeon-holed the way Countess Vaugh was, looks or not. Another thing to note is that Monica (even up to this day) has never left Atlanta; she always based herself in the city where she would be marketed the best. Similar things can be seen with Xscape; TLC; Da Brat (who moved from Chicago to Atlanta); Aaliyah (who went from Detroit to NYC) and several others that were never and have never been based on the west coast. They didn't just jump on the first plane to California because for as glamorous as L.A. and opportunity-rich might seem (and/or even be), it specialises in marketing a specific type of demographic just like everywhere else, and sadly Countess Vaughn was both misplaced and subsequently mismanaged out there.
